Its tough. On one hand I want to give people closure. On the other hand, its not like you are going to care about that after you ctb.

I don't think I will leave a note. As I write, I feel regret and sadness, which makes my desire to die fade away.
I just want to leave as if I never existed in the first place.

I will definitely leave a suicide note in my apartment and put the date on it, put it in a prominent place

I drafted my note. It was sad, yes, I cried a lot. However, going through my reasons also reassured me in my decision.
If that wouldn't have been the case, I think I would question that decision

I'm not implying this is applicable to your situation that I know nothing about. Just thinking out loud.

Edit to add: I had two people ctb on me, both without leaving notes. It's devastating and leaves so many questions. So I cannot go without leaving a note. That is as long as I'm in a mental state that allows for such planned activities, but I have certainly been in states where it would not have been possible or in the least important to me.

After much considering, I decided to only inform my best friend through a schedule message and ask him to make a post informing others since many of my friends live far away and I at least want to let them know.

The rest... couldn't care less.

For what it's worth... I just looked up some statistics... and it seems like a wide range, but 12-33% of suicides apparently leave notes. So, 1/3 at the highest end. Don't know where the statistics came from or why such a wide margin there... but it sounds like anyone not planning on leaving a note is in good company.

I have an unencrypted diary on my homelab. I don't care what happens in this reality after my existence ends, so anyone can just read it if they want to. Or not.

I plan on leaving two notes to the two people I feel like would be hurting the most when I ctb.
The people I definitely would have written for have already passed away.
It might be kinda dumb, but I also made a playlist of my favorite songs that I planned on sending to them, so maybe they could remember me that way or feel like they're close to me after I'm gone because music is a big part of my life.

For a long time I thought about leaving a note so that when the police arrive it would be clear that it was a suicide and they wouldn't waste time, but I don't care anymore, so I'm not going to leave a note.

Just practical things.
  • Financial and funeral-related stuff to my parents and brother, who will end up being my legal heirs and also responsible for the payment of my funeral according to the laws of the country where I live. I will look for something super cheap, btw, as I really do not care about my funeral. They are however free to do whatever they want with my body and my name (they know I never cared). Perhaps I will also send some documents by mail.
  • Some login instructions to my partner (or ex partner, I do not even know how to describe our relationship at this point). Some bills and insurance contracts are in my name, and then I have a shared folder with a lot of her documents, and she has likely forgot how to access it (probably she never checked that folder, lol).

Up to a few days ago I was considering a short summary of my reasons and problems for my parents, brother, partner and in-laws, but now I do not think I am going to do it. I don't know. I don't want more drama than necessary. My words had to be said and heard when I was alive. No hate, no regrets, no final punch line, after all I will wish everyone well until the end. 😢

I answered no, which was a change from my 2018-2019 position and it's mainly due to logical and practical reasons. At best I see very little purpose in spending time and energy which detracts and distracts me from accomplishing my mission or goal (to CTB), and at worst, it adds further complications and burdens that increase the chance of failing or jeopardizing an attempt. Additionally, what one reacts to or doesn't after I'm gone (after CTB and non-sentience), it would be irrelevant to me as I wouldn't be around to experience the aftermath and furthermore, how others reacts to is still up to the others regardless of what is said (some people react well, some people are sad, angry, all different kinds of emotions, etc.).

However, for SaSu when I do go, I do plan on a goodbye thread of course (when that time comes) since I really value the community and it's likely going to be more of a celebratory and summation of experiences, other thoughts, and what not partly for closure here but also to show appreciation and camaraderie for those around me on this platform.
