I've been taking Ambien to help combat my insomnia, that has been mentally debilitating. The insomnia has been so bad it makes me scared to eat, out of fear that anything I introduce to my diet will keep me awake. These period of being in bed unable to fall asleep a scary. I am not able to do anything. It feel like I am being given drugs unwilling to discredit me. "If he wasn't on drugs he wouldn't be suicidal." "If he wasn't on drugs he wouldn't be so unhappy." Like give me a fucking break. I don't drugs, and if I was doing drugs I would probably be less suicidal, and would probably be happier. So many people in this world are what make me so unhappy. People are cruel. Some people go out of their way to make others unhappy by intentionally spreading hate, and intentionally putting people down.
I woke up in the middle of the night about. Around 11 am I took an ambien. They way I felt when I woke up was like someone gave me a strong dose of crystal meth, so I took another ambien. I chewed it to skip the extended release coating. I so desperately want a normal night of sleep again. Maybe it's time to talk to a doctor about something stronger.

I take diphenhydramine, and it's what keeps me sane. Otherwise, it would mean not sleeping at night, anxiety, depression, and a desire to die...
Lately, I've had more episodes of insomnia and terrible drowsiness from being awake, from having to urinate every two minutes, and being disturbed during the night. The pain of insomnia and so much other crap drives me crazy, especially at night.

I understand the feeling. I wish I had answers for you. Ive been relying on the over the counter melatonin. I see you friend. Hope things get better.

I would try and get off the ambien. Chronic ambien use causes insomnia. There are four main neurotransmitter groups you want to be aware of: The two that keep you awake are dopamine + acetylcholine while the two that make you sleepy are GABA and serotonin (5-HT).

If you're afraid to eat because you don't want to introduce "wakeful foods," eat stuff that supports GABA and 5-HT receptors, i.e., sweet potato, chamomille, cinnamon, raw honey, warm oat milk, cooked oats, tart cherry, nutmeg, coconut milk, kiwi, leafy greens, root veggies, bananas, avocados, dark meat turkey, seaweed, sauerkraut, kimchi.

These all raise GABA and 5-HT while avoiding dopamine and acetylcholine. You can always use ChatGPT to check if you're eating something that might keep you up, and ask it for foods that put you to sleep. That's what I've been doing.

My suggestion is to buy a Ninja and mix things with water or warm oat milk, not regular milk.

There are so many things could be keeping you awake; i.e., screens before bed, being in your bedroom when you're not sleeping, etc. I'm sure you've already tried everything but if you haven't yet, look up "sleep hygeine." The crystal-meth comparison makes me feel really sorry for you... It sucks feeling wired.
