  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

In Germany there was a highest court ruling in 2020 in favor of very liberal assisted suicide laws. I was pretty happy but politicians blocked new bills after a large conservative media campaign. I was very very pissed and it made my blood boil. However, I realized something.

My parents would never support me in applying for assisted suicide. And this shit costs several thousand Euros with no guarantee that you get accepted.

I had to survive my parents to apply for it. Furthermore, when my parents are dead I am literally broke (and need to ctb even more)

There were news how courts sentenced doctors to long prison sentences after assisting suicide, it made me angry and I posted it here.

But I have the feeling with SN which seems to be legal where I live my issues are solved. I could imagine I can beat my SI rather at home, on benzos, somewhat impulsive and detached of my love ones. And I think some of these conditions would not be met with the official way of assisted suicide. I heard this can take years before you get accepted. But I am only a layman. I think assisted suicide could actually postpone my suicide. But I lost my hope for that (personally).

My problems with assisted suicide is that it's insanely expensive, I'd rather have that amount of money go to someone I care about when I'm gone or towards doing something nice before I pass. I also have an issue with the fact that someone else has to "grant me the right to end my own life" and deem me worthy of ending it. It's my body and my life, why would this be the decided or judged by anyone else but me? I don't want to have to ask permission from a bunch of strangers if I'm allowed to end my own life. It feels weird and like I have no rights and freedom over what I want to do with my life and it's offensive. The last problem is that it can take years for them to come to a conclusion. It's bizzare that I can go have an abortion or put down my pet, 0 questions asked, for free or for a couple hundread euros/dollars, at any time effortlessly, but I can't end my own life as easily and cheaply? Why is my life worth more or seen as more important than my pets lifes or my unborn child? There's a big problem with that "logic" in my eyes.

Unfortunately assisted suicide is not only expensive but furthermore people have to be almost dead to be accepted. They still don't have easy access to assisted dying long before their living situation becomes too bad. That's a shame.

Dying on ones own terms isn't possible - there are many more reasons why people may want to die, not only bc of health problems.

Animals receive better euthanasia than us bc human life "is worth so much more" - that's questionable.
