Just curious as to what you all are currently taking/have taken. I know we're all different and metabolize these meds differently, and clearly they're not working ideally for us since we're on this forum, but I just wanted to see all the different cocktails going around out there. I guess you can share what it is prescribed for, too!

Right now, I'm taking:

AM:
Lexapro, for depression/anxiety
Hydroxyzine, for anxiety
Vyvanse, for ADHD (and because I'm chronically fatigued without it but don't tell my psych that)

PM:
Hydroxyzine, for anxiety/racing thoughts
Trazodone, for sleep
Prazosin, for night terrors

Currently only lexapro. Just started taking them again after six years without. I'm not keeping my hopes up that they'll work though. But it's only been a week.

Lamictal initially worked really well for me when all of the antidepressants had failed to move the needle

I'm only on Ritaline rn for my ADHD, but throughout my life in order to deal with suicidal thoughts and depression I've been prescribed Fluoxetine, Quetiapine + Escitalopram, 1st gen antipsychotics (cyamemazine and loxapine), Sertraline, and Venlafaxine ; absolutely none of this has worked. To deal with anxiety I've been prescribed Diazepam and Alprazolam which mechanically works but is an extremely inefficient solution. I'm gonna look into S-Ketamine 😮‍💨

Trintellix, alprazolam and diazepam. But it's of no use...
But alprazolam and diazepam could work together in SN, I don't know.

Tried three for all of my versions of depression. Gave up as the side effects were so bad they were giving me depression (ironically):
Bupropion - Was great. Thought I got it first try but it pushed my anxiety through the roof.
Lexapro - None of the benefits, all of the side effects. Fuck this drug.
Venlafaxine - Fucked me up in every way possible. Made me fat, broke my brain, flattened my emotions to the point I did not give a shit about anything and did some dumb stuff. Also took a year for the side effects to go away after I stopped it.
All three also made my insomnia worse and I already barely sleep. I gave up. At this point going to the doctor and trying yet another med that is going to make my life hell is not worth the effort. I would just rather be dead.

I took prozac for a bit when I was 18-19 in 2008. It made me angry, impulsive, and I ended up making an unresearched, unplanned attempt while taking it. I would also get lots of mysterious bruises. I haven't gone back to psychiatry since, but I've been taking St. John's wort for the past several years and it helps quiet the intrusive thoughts without the side effects. It does interact with a lot of medications though, so every time I take anything (including over the counter), I do a lot of research beforehand.

@whiskeyblanket it's good you're being careful. I always wanted to try that as it's natural but yeah it does interact with stuff and can cause serotonin syndrome IIRC. Good to know it works somewhat though.

You are right--it can cause serotonin syndrome if taken in very high doses or combined with SSRIs. It works for me but your mileage may vary. If you decide to try it, it's a good idea to do your research (just like almost anything, I suppose).

@whiskeyblanket yeah I'd be super careful with it if I tried it, serotonin syndrome doesn't sound fun! I only take vitamins right now but I think even some of them interact. You really have to read up on everything you take b/c of possible interactions.

Mirtzapine is more sedating in lower doses. Maybe try upping the dose and see if that helps.

I did but still left me with the affects for a few days. But really thanks for the input!

I'm on Fluoxitine for depression, Lorazepam to help with suicidal thoughts, and then Zopiclone to help with sleep.

The Lorazepam has been the most successful for me, but it's only prescribed on a short-term basis. It can be addictive, and I can see why. It really slows down your head. I usually take one along with the Zopiclone to boost the sedative effect.

Zopiclone worked for a while, but now it's wearing off. They tried me with Promethazine, but I find that hydrochloride meds give me major restless leg syndrome at night, so I barely get any sleep.
