So I know someone who has N from A and they tested a little drop of it. They said it tastes very bitter and a bit like wodka but they also confirmed that it isn't as bad as people say it does. They said drinking 200 ml would certainly be a challenge but eating something sweet after it helps reducing the bad taste, like chocolate. It's recommended to chase N down with some alcohol, apparently it makes the N more effective.

I read that too. In my country there is no alcohol so I would have to do without.

While I've not taste tested N myself, I suspect that this passage from page 42 of the "KNMP Guidelines for the Practice of Euthanasia and Physician Assisted Suicide" on the preparation procedure for mixtura nontherapeutica (which consists of pentobarbital sodium, the same active ingredient in N) could be somewhat useful:

"Pentobarbital sodium is described in the literature as a substance with a bitter taste. Its concentration in this preparation results in a taste that is not only bitter, but also somewhat soapy due to the high pH level."

Of course, one can expect the taste to be a bit different when we take into consideration that fact that the mixture contains a few ingredients that are not be found in a bottle of N (syrup simplex and star anise oil, for example) nor is the ratio of pentobarbital sodium to liquid the same.

"Under the influence of CO2 in the air, the pH level can gradually reduce, which can result in crystallisation of free pentobarbital. This has been shown to be preventable by adding propylene glycol and alcohol in the stated quantities. These additives also work as preservatives."

Presumably, N, being in a liquid form contains the aforementioned ingredients in the solution, and so the "vodka-like" quality that @RainAndSadness brought up in her post makes a lot of sense. I would think that since the concentration of pentobarbital in the Dutch mixtura nontherapeutica is considerably higher (15 g in roughly 100 mL), the the bitterness is more intense than with N (having to down 200 mL before the drug begins to take effect seems a bit daunting).
