Help Transporting a gas tank as a non-driver

I'm a non-driver with no license and fortunate enough to live in a city with enough public transport to not need to learn how to drive. I recently made the mistake of ordering a relatively small quantity of pure helium online, and now I'm looking around at local gas suppliers for a proper amount of inert gas, as I'm just a little married to the exit hood idea.

My problem here is, I don't know that I can or want to transport a 20 or 40 of any inert gas on public transit (if they'll let me), and asking someone I know to help transport it with me sounds like an awful thing to implicate someone in. I haven't contacted the welding supplier yet to see if they deliver, but I'm afraid of placing an order and my roommates get to it before I do, as they know of my plans with the helium tank. Has anyone else had to deal with this or does everyone else happen to be a driver and automobile owner?

Tank is rather large and heavy; I'm going to wing it tomorrow and get an Uber to fill it up at a local welding supply store, and double check w drivers before they show up that they're cool transporting it.

To answer your question properly, about 8 inches wide by 2 feet tall. Definitely no school bag will hold them, at least not entirely. They weigh 35ish pounds with gas, 30-32 without. Definitely a two handed carry if you aren't both strong and long-armed

Fresh update: got my tank to the welding store and the filled tank back to my place with Ubers quite easily, took no less than 45 minutes total. No fuss at all.

Did some digging a 5 litre tank is more than enough to do the job and yes it would be around 2 feet tall so easily carried in a handbag. They literally call it portable tank.

20cuft tank yeah, I could imagine. I should've been clearer that I'm working with a 40cuft myself and it's a real pain to get around lol.

Did you get regulator and flowmeter? Is flowmeter even necessary?
