i think he didn't even know that i could hear something besides my headphones because i could my headphones had zero battery

Oh baby. I am so sorry you were treated that way. And like you, experiences like that have pretty much soured me on human interaction. If I could stay home and NEVER leave the house again, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Just give me my pets, my garden and my little house in the middle of a neighborhood NOT in an HOA and mostly just older folks who, like me, pretty much keep to themselves. Bonus points for being close to a city lake so I have a murder of crows who visit the feeder I put up for them, ringneck dove who come down and "steal" the chicken feed I "accidentally" spill, and lots and lots of songbirds. Oh, and Mr. Possum, who loves to walk the fence at night -- and steal the feral cats' food off the front porch.

I am not sure why the road brings out the worst in people but man even a sweet old kindergarten teacher gets absolute potty mouth. I guess people carry all the rage and frustration from other areas of life and feel like letting it out on the road I guess.
