Suicide awareness month is a absolute joke. If you look around youll notice that everyone is killing themselves slowly through overworking, drinking, drugs, toxic relationships, they just pretend everything's fine while they rot inside. They do what they can to take the edge off to cope with existence. But it's all looked down on when someone finally does it outright, when it happens to the person who was clearly struggling and completely ignored...the whole time. Then suddenly it's a tragedy, suddenly it's "preventable." No...it was happening right in front of you, just in a way society is comfortable ignoring. People don't care about prevention. They care about saving face when it's too late, to not feel the emotions from losing someone close . People will not remember you unless they saw you almost everyday, those are the people that get hurt the most and will actually remember you. But memories fade just like people do. People move on its human nature to survive and keep going even when shit gets rough.
But survival isn't for everyone .

ya this is something that just makes me a super misanthrope. Humans are always trying to put on face and say 'they care' when the reality is ....Ha!

It's so true. Most of people don't really care about prevention, they cry when it's too late. Then they forget and carry on...

Yeah I've been so fed up this month, I especially hate the 'oh all you need to do is ask for help, that will solve everything' mentality. I have been trying for months to get help after my mental health nosedived from bad but manageable to horribly suicidal everyday and almost non-functioning and it's so impossible. I have tried multiple medications and been in therapy all my life (started when I was 4) the kind of help I need is so hard and expensive to access. It makes me sick that I could kill myself and everyone would call it a tragedy and say if only they had reached out, etc. but I am doing everything I can. Recently found out my insurance doesn't cover anything out of state and it feels like the last nail in the coffin literally and figuratively. I'm so done, I told myself if I try a couple of things I have not tried yet and they don't work I could ctb but I don't know if I have it in me to try anymore. I'm preparing my method and trying to switch insurance and whatever is completed first might be the choice I go with.

there should be a suicide awareness month like everyone discusses the best methods and when you should do it, how to best say goodbye to those close to you and so on

The last thing I want to see is how much everyone pretends to care after I'm gone. I feel you man.

i think the general tone of the month is really patronizing. people don't care about fixing the underlying issues causing one to kill themselves, they just don't want them to do it. imo this is because they don't want to feel guilty for losing someone and like they could have done more when they actually don't even bother to do more

It's a horribly condescending month

Oh, if only they had been aware, they would picked daffodils and walked outside and not committed suicide.

We must have awareness!
