Hey,

I've been preparing some times now for a proper drop hanging in a quiet forest.
Every time I go there to practice the procedure, I get anxious about actually 'doing it', this is SI right?
On a day I also get sudden fears when thinking about ctb and I try to overcome that feeling with my will.. it's hard.
Rationally I know I must just execute the procedure when the time comes, regardless of any fears, because this is what I really want! how do you overcome SI? Can you 'shut off' that fear?

I don't think is possible to shut that fear or SI off. We are hardwired to survive, and our brain will override us in order to keep existing; it takes just will, for some takes luck, and for others being in a very miserable and helpless point in life, to commit to it. At the end, comes to your current situation, how you feel at the moment and what memories and thoughts you use to fuel your desire to ctb.

Suicide is very difficult. Even know we want to die, we are programmed to survive. If it was easier to leave, I would already be gone. Of course we all deserve the option of euthanasia, none of us should have to resort to a method like hanging. Methods can fail and it takes knowledge and planning for it to succeed. I believe I will be able to overcome the SI once I reach a point of desperation, where I cannot take it anymore. It will be a feeling deep down that I know it is time to leave. I hope you find the peace you are looking for.
