My younger sister's former classmate committed suicide

I just found out that a former classmate of my younger sister committed suicide. They were just 18 and had graduated from high school last year. It's so sad, this person went to the same Christian high school as I did and it's a very tight-knit community. I heard this person had recently come out as transgender, but I don't know if they were MtF or FtM hence me using they pronouns. I wonder if my sister realizes that her older brother might end up the same way...
