• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

So many things that cause immense suffering can never be fully eliminated, only reduced by an unknown amount.

You can never 100% prevent a painful cancer, a gory accident, a heart attack, a kidney stone, etc...
They're always possible, and even if you take every safeguard you can, you're likely to encounter at least one in your life.
That uncertainty if enough for me to want nothing of life.

I feel the same way, in this life there is unlimited potential for suffering and there is no limit as to how bad things can get. I am scared of life overall, there is so much that can potentially go wrong. I just want non existence as nothing can hurt me then. I see life as being so pointless and unnecessary, to me it is horrifying that life is even a thing in the first place.

Yes, exactly. And there's a virtually endless list of sources suffering that apply, inescapable poverty, abusive households, unattractiveness, of course - big etc. This is the kindle and fire that creates support in the anti-natalist philosophy.

I've realized that life is nothing but luck. Some people are lucky and have it all, others are not so lucky and suffer terribly. And it only takes one unlucky thing to ruin everything else. Born in a relatively well off family in a first world country? You are unattractive and will be alone for life. Attractive to the point of making people fall in love with you at first glance? You get into an accident at the ripe old age of 15 and become disfigured. Finally retiring after 50+ years of hard work with a loving family? A terminal cancer makes you suffer immensely before you inevitably die. Most people lose in life, and those who win are nothing but exceptionally lucky.

Unless you were born into a well off family, had a stable childhood / upbringing, a pretty face and good physical health when you start out in life, you will have never made it

It's sometimes possible to increase/decrease your chances of something, but you can never guarantee it. In more economically developed countries there are some safety nets to ameliorate suffering. Some countries seem to do a better job of it than others.

Suffering has been acknowledged as part of life for thousands and thousands of years. It makes me wonder what the point of it all is and why life has persisted for billions of years, given the intrinsic suffering involved.
