I'm an atheist but I still fear the idea of hell or that after I die I could end up in a really bad place. I know that after death there is corpse decomposition and it doesn't make sense for us to go somewhere else, so an afterlife can't be real. But the Christian descriptions of hell are extremely terrifying to me even if the chances of it being real are very low. Being burned and tortured in such vicious ways is simply something I don't want to risk.

While I certainly understand those fears...you could end up in hell even after dying of natural causes. So you get to experience two hells in full. Can't see that as a selling point.

I think I already live there. If not, you can send me, unless they send my brother or mother there later. I'll go anywhere to get away from them.

I don't think there is a "hell" but possibly having to live again in a less than desirable existence? Idk. I don't really believe in religion at all but I am a believer in karma - the universe- spirits etc and I think reincarnation is a real thing

Heaven and hell are very childish concepts, almost similar to good and evil. To be honest they are quite ingrained in our psychology serving the role of punishment and reward mechanisms-similar to those that would be used to train an animal. Plus, I find the Buddhist explanation that there can be no soul or essence quite satisfactory, and yet reincarnation still seems to me to be a childish concept created to appease the fear of death, and obviously as a mechanism of reward and punishment.

When I became an atheist, I had those thoughts too.

Sometimes, I think about "What if there's some kind of afterlife?".
Not like "Heaven & Hell", but... You have your consciousness.

It might be bad, yeah... But if you can "exist" with no worries, anxiety or else... It might be good.

Sometimes, I rather that than the void, the nothingness.

i had similar worries for a while but all the torture in the world would still come as a welcome relief if it meant i never head to care about all my worries from the living world. the worst hell i can imagine is being born in the exact same life all over again.

you're already in hell. Any place i could possibly go to can't be worse than this world. Not a believer anyway. After death comes tranquility.

The main thing you better hope for is that you do not go to heaven and be with the god of the Christian bible. For if you read and study it you will find out that he is a monster. I'm terrified of going to heaven. Anywhere but there.

I couldn't care less if I tried as hard as I could, during my teenage years I tried all kinds of possible rituals and never had a paranormal experience, the only thing that scares me would be the possibility of any kind of reincarnation theory.

I'm agnostic; I'm not afraid of going to Hell. I don't believe Hell exists. I don't believe in Heaven either. But, it would be really nice if that when we die, we go somewhere blissful and peaceful.
However, I am afraid of dying, and then there being nothing on the other side — which is the most likely outcome IMO.

I seem to be among the minority here that believes in God..heaven and hell..

Yes, it's something that I do fear, but then I think about the fact that God knows my heart & He knows my suffering, I feel this peace..it will all be okay in the end🙏

No . There's no supernatural hell. The only hell is this life and Earth. The illusion of me is only created by my brain

1 micro second after my brain dies I will cease to exist forever

Why is my consciousness so special ? At what point in evolution is it different from an ape , monkey, dog, mouse , crow, fish , fly , cricket ?

Cells in every animal including a human, insect, etc are basically identical having the same core intrinsic parts. For example DNA, RNA, ATP , ribosomes, same genetic code and more

I'm a Christian and the fear of Hell definitely is one of the reasons I'm still here. It would be much easier if I was an atheist and believed that the dead was the final destination.

I don't really believe in such afterlife and I see no reason why I should end up in Christian hell rather than Duat, Helheim, Hades, etc. But some form of rebirth seems to me to be one of the more likely outcomes, and the fate of being reborn as some kind of sapient alien in the Stone Age does scare me. Or even as a zebra. Being eaten by a crocodile or a lion is not something I often dream about.

If hell is real then Satan is real. An if he is why would he torture us. Everyone who cast doubt on religion is technically on his side. But I think it more likely we just stop existing.

I don't believe in heaven, but I do believe in hell and we've been there for years.
Eternal life no matter where sounds bad to me so the idea of an afterlife at all is scary honestly.

After death there's nothing - if you're sent to "hell" you will be sent there whether you commit suicide or die a natural death. Hell is on earth already for some of us - that's why some of us consider suicide.

There's neither proof nor disproof. There are the NDEs but actually whoever had an NDE and crossed the line never returned and could never report to us. Imo it's unknown whether NDEs are a result of reactions in our brain during the process of dying or they are "real". Imo NDEs can also appear if we take drugs - so most likely it's just sth that happens in our brain and is imaginary and not real.

That's my personal opinion.

I am agnostic so i don't discard the possibility of an afterlife but i am not afraid because i treat people like i want to be treated with good and respect so if a personal god exist and is compassionate then it knows how do i feel and the reasons behind of ctb

No because hell is actually a state of condition.

The bible teaches this world is ruled by Satan and is full of wickedness.

I don't care where I was before I was born so why should I care where I am after I die...??
