i think of all my biggest problems and things i hate about myself are my intellect. i am constantly plagued with the knowledge that i'm not an intelligent person, that i'm not as smart as everyone throughout my childhood had made me out to be, and that i'm not fit for an academic career, which was supposed to be the one singular prospect in life i could've had
every single thing makes me feel stupid, even the tiniest thing like not solving a puzzle or taking too long to beat a game. and i know that it sounds like something everyone experiences, we all feel dumb for this and that but i am caused genuine distress by this every day and it severely affects my value of myself as a person.
i keep trying to somehow find ways to prove to myself and others that i'm smart but i can't. i want to learn more, read more, but it feels physically impossible to do; if it's not the executive function digging me in then it's the fact that the process of reading is really difficult to me, idk if it's an eye problem, functional illiteracy, my adhd or whatever the fuck else. whatever it is, it's a major roadblock that i have no idea how to cross, and "just keep practicing" feels impossible when i give everything up at the first sign of failure. i can't properly speak my native language because i've lived half my life abroad and it makes any conversation with me or any paper i submit sound like the ramblings of a 5 year old. i can't properly put my thoughts into words or paraphrase and convert texts into my own work or be original, i just parrot facts.
i probably am just unintelligent and maybe i'm struggling to find a way to cope with that fact. it's hard but i may have to accept that the one supposed talent i'm meant to have just isn't there, or i didn't realize my potential because i felt too confident and got lazy. it makes me feel like my life is over because honestly if you have no skills, aren't fit, and have no degree then realistically what can you do besides wageslave away. every "you can do this and that" feels pointless when you're scraping by to even get the shittiest job because of the current market, and everyone is breathing down your neck for it as if you can magically conjure employment.
