"DO NOT DO THIS. I am a medical professional. You WILL die in pain using this method. If you wanna go, purchase over the counter insulin. Take that, then 100mgs of diphenhydramine. You'll fall right asleep, and never wake up. BUT contact me or a suicide hotline before you end it. I don't think anyone here needs to die."

I am not sure that over the counter insulin is a thing. I think that insulin always has to be prescribed. So if you go to a pharmacy and ask for over the counter insulin, you will encounter a very confused pharmacist.

Right, this method seems like a pain. They usually only give insulin for diabetes

This sounds more like a comment from someone trying to troll you. An incel healthcare professional is already, at the very least, curious; they must have missed a lot of classes.

It's looks like its available OTC in every state except Indiana. Don't know about other countries though.

i got scared and took 2 g instead of 25 g. thats why the process took much longer, i was found by my father and placed in the icu. not sure if i will attempt to ctb again, because then i had hopes that my loved ones will get over it, now i know they dont. so i dont plan to attempt in near future. but if i would, i would use sn again

Ignoring the fact that a respectable medical professional would be activley using an incel forum of all places, there's no reason to believe that they have in-depth knowledge on the sensation of taking SN than what has been reported by literally every survivor of an SN attempt on this forum. When taking SN, even without anti-emetics, antacids, painkillers, benzos, etc., considerable physical pain hasn't been reported, at least not to my knowledge. At worst, nausea, headaches, panic, and other uncomfortable feelings are to be expected, but definitely not excruciating pain which is being implied by that poster.

Insulin is my current method and medical literature points to it being effective. It has to be rapid acting insulin and injected in the veins though. Lot's of failed attempts come from people just injecting insulin intramuscular. The bioavailability is not high enough this way. I don't know about it being painless though. If you inject a high enough dosage (600 UIs to 900 UIs) you should get unconscious within 30 to 60 minutes. These last 30 to 60 minutes might not be in comfort though.

Insulin? Painless?
Well, there is something to be said for insulin, but there is a podcast with a scandinavian doctor who has diabetes type 1, and she asked her husband how he would kill her.
He said insulin, because she already as needle marks so it won't be suspicious, and they already have it in the medical cabinet.
She said "but that's a horrible way for me to die, don't you love me enough for a peaceful exit?".
(He of course said yes, but he didn't want to get caught).

So I think I'll trust that.

Plenty of homicidal healthcare workers have murdered patients using insulin so- it will kill. But then, I imagine dosage and application are more specialist knowledge things. Maybe it's not complicated to learn how to inject yourself. But, it's still something you need to know what you're doing I imagine.

It probably also depends on which country you live in as to whether you can get it without a prescription. You can't in the UK.

If it's so painless though- why don't they use it in the VAD clinics? I imagine it's cheaper and easier to access than pentobarbital.

As for comparing the two methods- how can he know? Maybe he's right but then, I imagine all DIY versions of suicide are risky in terms of effectiveness and pain/ discomfort.

There are a few posts here from people who attempted this. Obviously it did not work. Unless you are a particular type of diabetic, insulin is a non-method.
