I'm wondering if hyperventilating immediately before hanging will help.
I know that hyperventilation constricts blood vessels (including the carotid arteries), which can lead to loss of consciousness. And you think about it, the blood vessels will already be constricted after hyperventilation, and then the rope will be pressing on them, which, in theory, should significantly reduce the time to loss of consciousness.
So maybe hyperventilating will make the hanging a little less painful?
