Yes I'm aware there's a music masterthread, but this is more for songs specifically for the breakdowns ever.

My main one for when I want to rip myself apart is Numb by Meg Myers. My main one for when I want to cry is Euthanasia by Will Wood. It's the only song that makes me cry every time I listen to it (seriously it has a massive emotional effect on me, if there's any song out of this list you decide to listen to, let it be this one).
Second one for ripping myself apart is DENY by emily jeffri. One time I spent a whole night listening to it on repeat while I self-destructed for 5 hours. Third is Earthmover by Have A Nice Life. And fourth is Just by Radiohead (basic ik but popular for a reason).
It's honestly really difficult to make me cry from music, but another one that does it that no one knows about is Kindergarden by FLWRZ. When I say no one knows it, I mean only 2k listens on Soundcloud. As far as I've found it's only available on Soundcloud. I listened to it on my way to the hospital for one of my first serious CBT attempts in 8th grade.
My favs for walking around and lamenting are going through all of Oneheart's music. Distorted memories is for sure up there for that, as well as snowfall. I also like retire (final) by Alvedon and Warsh_Tippy and Zelda by Whatever, Dad for those purposes.

Anyway. Lmk what you think of any of the songs I listed, and/or suggest your own! I need more music to get utterly destroyed emotionally to.

To Forgive, Today, Thirty-Three, and Eye by the Smashing Pumpkins, basically anything from The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails, The Nobodies by Marilyn Manson, Carry Me Ohio by Sun Kil Moon, and Katy Song by Red House Painters. To Forgive by the Smashing Pumpkins is the song I have cried the most to, and it isn't even close. That song is the story of my life in song form. Some other ones are First Person by CYNE and To Drown A Rose by Death In June (as you could probably gleam from my signature).

Nude by Radiohead has been hitting a lot lately. Bloodhail by Have A Nice Life is also great. Ceremony by New Order isn't the most depressing thing but it makes me feel very melancholy, to me it feels like an end credits song to a movie about someone finding hope. It was written by the singer of their previous band, Ian Curtis, before he decided to ctb and it just conveys the feeling of "ending" to me.

How to disappear completely by Radiohead.

I have nothing and no one now. Like I'm not meant to ever have anything or anyone. I don't want to die alone. I don't want to be alone. I'm screaming and numb. Can't cry. Can't feel. No one...

the comfort of a laugh track - roar
this song broke something inside me I think, the piano is so haunting. nevertheless, it's still a really good song to listen to, even if you're not breaking down. honestly this guy's whole discography is pretty sad
