It might help in the short term, but in the long term…. No. I don't think so.

As a student in probably one of the least stable and lucrative majors, music composition, it would help a lot. The music industry seems so overcomplicated, overwhelming and just plain fucked, plus I have zero charisma, am socially awkward, distrusting and paranoid, don't play an instrument (I use digital midi and Vocaloid), and don't like using social media and promoting myself. Fuck, even my music business textbook keeps saying only people who give their 100000000% and have shittons of ambition can make it but I barely have ambition for even living........

Making music has been a really good hobby (and therapy) and even with no audience or just throwing it into the void of Youtube with no care to how I do, I would feel content, but I had savings that I lost for dumb reasons and my family's finances blew up so now I gotta engage with this heckin industry, wage slave until I die of overwork, or get cancelled/demonetized because all of my songs are about depression, anxiety, or suicide. Apparantly MVs and art are ridiculously expensive too.....

I like music so much that the thought of changing majors to something else makes me want to die even more too.....

Extreme Pain is much worse than people know

i would use any money i could get , like i do now , to get my suicide method more reliable and ready to go.

If i had a choice 1. 990 million dollars cash in my bank account but i can't kill myself i have to live to old age and let natural death kill me .

2. gauranteed painless instant Death / non-existence forever any time this week .

I would choose Death non-existence forever today. for many reasons. for one thing even with a lot of money i could get a stroke then be put in a nursing home and suffer unbearable pain demented for decades. but that can't happen if i don't exist.

so imo all these multi-milionaires and billionares are taking huge risks . they could be using their money to have a super reliable suicide method out of this hell but instead no they are living life not even thinking about an exit strategy.

it happened to the ceo of yahoo that was one of the biggest internet companies in the early 2000's Terry Semel. and before that was also rich. so definitely a multi-milionaire but could have had a billion $. but he ended up in a nursing home crying with alsheimers . his wife put him in a nursing home and his son was trying to get him out.

also i won't remember any of that supposed fleeting "enjoyment" with the money after i'm dead. we all are going to die.

let's say tomorrow you will become a millionaire, how many of your problems will be fixed? would you be happy for a long time? or just short ecstasy?
I would still CTB. I'd just enjoy life a little longer, and then kill myself. With a lot of money, the possibilities are infinite

My only goal with a ton of money would be to get myself to some exotic location and die there, instead of most likely in my basement. As death is my ultimate goal, I guess it would make me happy, so yes?

Tbh yeah. I would still have my problems, as my trauma and disabilities won't go away with money, but I would be able to treat them so much more effectively and have the funds to buy myself good food, a gym membership, good housing, support my friends, all the fun little luxuries it would be fun to have, just so many things I lack now. Gods what I would give to not have to worry about rent….

i think money would fix enough of it that i would stick around. being able to move wherever i want and spend more time with my girlfriend and pursue my interests would help me a lot i think

No, not really. It would make my life significantly easier and better, sure, and it would probably alleviate my suffering considerably, but it doesn't completely undo my mental issues and I would still continue to suffer.

I have already tried to spend lots of money to fix my health problems without success.
A million dollar could help to try everything and speed up the waiting lists issues, but at the end my problems will be still there, and unfortunately nothing can change this.

It wouldn't make me happy, but it would free up so much time and energy that I might be able to pursue it. Doesn't even need to be millions. It could be just enough to meet my basic needs as a human and that would be enough. Give some of the rest to someone else, I'm sure there would be plenty left over.

I would be a lot happier, but unless I earned it I would still be a failure, so I would still be kind of miserable, I would just use the money to detach from the people I have failed.

Existence itself seems to be the problem, I don't imagine in any scenario where I could be happy outside of a specific situation where someone I would fixate on fixate on me just as hard; rest of reality seems dull, what would I even do with the money?

I don't even have any dreams/interests outside of when I get a drive whenever I start to fixate, I genuinely can't fathom what I would do with it outside of letting it sit there as I live as usual.

Nope - I am considered successful and my balance sheet is quite healthy. However, the biggest issue once you get more than a few million is tax strategy. This is going to sound absolutely petty but my CTB plan is based largely on tax strategy. My business was very successful and then the "black-dog of depression" started biting my ass. It caused me to have to insert a large amount of personal funds to keep it going while I focused on rebuilding. My wife is greatly concerned the business will not come back and any more capital insertion means a massive tax hit for next year. If the business turns around by the end of the year, then I can replace the personal funds and minimize the tax hit. If not, then I need to consider CTB to trigger my insurance policies which are paid personally - which of course means the payout is non-taxable. As such, there is no tax hit while my wife deals with the accountants to liquidate the estate. So - nope, I have money and it has not made me happy. I would trade all of it to be 22 again and living in a flop house - at least then I had energy and a modicum of hope even if tempered by suicidal thoughts.

There are lots of people saying no and yes,,, a bit dry and blunt but why don't the people that will CTB regardless give their money to the other group of people. Lol. All love, just dark humor.

Definitely not happy at least not for long. I've had painful depressive episodes that start out of nowhere even when everything seems to be fine in my life. I have a lot of problems that can't be fixed with money like:
- Lack of social skills, crippling social anxiety and the isolation that it causes.
- My bad self-esteem makes me think that nobody would want to be friends with me and definitely not in a relationship so I'm going to die alone.
- Ashamed of my body and face.
- Incredibly negative view of society and humanity.

I also don't have any need for expensive stuff so materialistically, I'm content as long as I have the essential stuff. Travelling would be nice but my anxiety is too severe for me to enjoy it.

At this point, all I can think about doing with that money is using it to CTB. I'm so disconnected from any idea of happiness besides finally being gone.

Fundamentally, no. It wouldn't change my stance on life, but would probably offer me more means of distraction.

"The craving for material goods is not so much due to the direct pleasures of wealth (...) Rather, the value of a fortune to life consists in the rich opportunities for anchoring and distraction offered to the owner." - Peter W. Zapffe

No. Money wouldn't make me happy long time, from my experience. Having money is nice, as I don't have to work for now (which would be very hard for me), but I have so many traumas and problems, that money don't even buy me temporary hapiness anymore

Not happy, but less bothered. In the end I don't really want anything (count maybe a real relationship), but don't think that's for sale.

Absolutely it would. Lack of resources, money being the biggest one, makes day to day life really difficult. If I had money there'd be so many things in my life I could change to improve my crappy situation
