I'm thinking of using a neck tie from Amazon but I am going to try to do more research or what to use

This is what I would like to know too. I could buy rope, but since my family knows I'm actively suicidal it would be difficult to explain it away. The only issue I've found with neck ties though is that they're a tiny bit too short, so it can be awkward to get the positioning right

It can work but, ties are usually not enough they're too short and may slip through the knot or loosen. I could see maybe if you tied multiple knots in the tie so it doesnt slip past one. The main thing is that to properly strangle yourself would require a uniform pressure across your neck to prevent airflow. It could be possible to tie something that tight. I've tried to strangle myself with my ties in the past, either im stupid or it just doesnt work right. It was mainly me pulling as hard as I could until I passed out, at that point I would let go from being unconsious and the tie would loosen.

Rope is good because of the leverage it can give you, stuff like the over the door method or tieing in a high position will give enough uniform pressure and leverage that it will continue to strangle you even after you are dead.

And why not just buy a rope? It's a common household item that you can use for many things without raising suspicion. It can be used for exercises, hanging clothes, tying objects, "making a hammock"..

Why take risks with other elements that surely won't work?
