• Hey Guest,

    We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

    Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

    Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

    If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Why do I need to have a meaning or purpose in life? Why do I need to have dreams or aspirations? Why should I always look forward something? Why do I have to make a ''career''? Why do I need to hustle or ''improve'' myself or whatever? Why would I want to be a productive member of the society? If society owes nothing to me then I don't owe anything to society either. Why do I need to study ''well'' and get a degree? Why should I always be productive and do something?

What's so wrong if I don't have any dreams, goals, aspirations and I don't want a career? What's wrong in finding life meaningless and not wanting to ''create'' a meaning? What's wrong in wanting to do nothing? I want to do nothing. I just want to sleep as much as possible to forget existence and drink. There's it. Why are we supposed to always do something? You say wanting to do nothing is a mental illness? What if overworking yourself and complicating life for nothing is actually the mental illness? If you force us to live against our will then at least let us live however we want lol. I prefer to chill than participate in that useless rat race. I don't want to do anything and it's okay. I just need to pass time until I get courage to suicide or until I luckily die. It's absolutely okay if you don't want to do anything with your life, we weren't supposed to be such overachievers.

You only need these things if you want to keep living, for living without them is excessively difficult.
Why do I have to make a ''career''? Why do I need to hustle or ''improve'' myself or whatever?
We weren't supposed to be such overachievers.
These are the outgrowths of the despicable form of "hyper-capitalism" coupled with globalisation and technological escalation we have had the distinct displeasure of experiencing for the past 70 years or so, resulting in fierce professional competition. Every company only wants the best employees, and they have the luxury of being able to take their pick.
Why should I always be productive and do something?
Things are produced in order to be used or consumed. If everybody spent every waking hour producing, who would consume? It would render the entire process pointless. It is important that people take their time to be "unproductive" (whatever that means) and legitimise the product's existence by using it.
You say wanting to do nothing is a mental illness?
To borrow a phrase I once read somewhere: Anything that goes against the interests and mores of the collective is pathologised.
Society has always branded individuals that deviate from the norm as defective in order to protect itself.
If you force us to live against our will then at least let us live however we want.
That would defeat the whole purpose of it.
Why would I want to be a productive member of the society? If society owes nothing to me then I don't owe anything to society either.
You don't owe life anything;
You can choose to end it all.
Life doesn't owe you anything;
You can choose to reject it.

You don't deserve to be happy.

Who said you do?
You? Who are you?
Your friends?
Your government?
Your god?

They lied.

They say they deserve to be happy;
What have they done to deserve it?
If you say they should be happy,
Who will give it to them?

Maybe you mean to say, you wish they were happy.

I do too...

The world doesn't owe anyone anything,
Just like you don't owe it anything.

This is a poem I edited together from a few comments in this thread:
https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/the-world-doesnt-owe-you-anything.7179/

Closing remark: I agree.

I understand how you feel. I want nothing to do with life and I do not want to participate in it at all. Nothing about living appeals to me. Life is just unnecessary, as we were all perfectly fine not existing until we were forced to live. Living is not an obligation, we have the right to exit this world at a time of our choosing. I see it as being perfectly rational wanting to escape this world.
