• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I think this is most likely a fallacy of human thinking. There's no evidence that evolution wants everyone to live long happy lives or reproduce. The evidence suggests differently. That suffering, death, and extinction are vital aspects of evolution. Of course we should try to help people be happy and not feel suicidal, inasmuch as that is possible. But we should not make any assumptions about any perceived purpose of life that has no evidence to support it. Denying reality does not help everyone. Pretending that happiness is easy because it's the so-called purpose of life and blaming the suicidal for how they feel is not helping them.

Interdasting. So you are saying by not spreading our genes and possibly dying early, we the miserable ones are actually partaking successfully in the process of evolution? Yay!

Unironically, I would say yes.

It depends on which perspective you approach it from.

By default: no I do not think that nature or its mechanisms (biological evolution) intended for organisms such as human beings to commit suicide, because suicide is detrimental to the goal of reproduction. However human consciousness as we currently know it is a product of evolution, so if you believe that suicide can be chosen rationally (consciously) then a case could be made that it is not unnatural.

When I was younger I thought that if anyone had real intelligence they would ctb. We all know we are only here for a short while. Why not just get on with it and see what's next instead of wasting time here?

Probably a jaded, cynical pov. I'm not really sure I feel the same now. Life could just be a vacation from another worse life 😆. A lot of people now believe that the probably of life being a simulator is greater than it not being. I find a weird comfort in thinking that's true. In that this life was designed for me, I'm the only player and everyone else are npcs 🤔
