There was a recent thread about Stan a few weeks ago. There are threads asking about him every so often as new members join. Search the forum. In fact, his reason for publishing his guide was because he was seeing the same SN questions being asked repeatedly here, so he compiled his guide where people could find answers to basic SN questions. As @TheQ22 said, the guide is the Resources tab.

EDITED TO ADD: From what I've read about Stan, he didn't want to be viewed as some kind of god or expert, so not much personal information is available about him. Sounds like he didn't want any attention or accolade. He simply got tired of responding to the same questions time after time, so he created the guide.

Stan was a Sanct Sui member like everyone else who 1] wrote a very useful guide to the SN method; and 2] inadvertently became the object of cult worship. Another member here was "courting" him (or maybe harrassing is a better word for it) and when he ctb'd she devoted a lot of energy to promoting "Stan worship" here on the forum.

Stan himself was a talkative guy with an active sense of humor who (as noted above) didn't like answering the same questions all the time, so he wrote that good guide about SN. He would've hated being turned into a "guru".

Stan is probably one of the sources we talk about on this site, using one-letter abbreviations like A or D, or descriptors like "river in Brazil".
