This is a different question then asking whether someone has the RIGHT to CTB.

From your perspective, to what kind of circumstance would you say: You know, I hear your situation and it doesn't sound quite so hopeless with time.

I myself have been in acute crisis for the past 9 months following a bad mushroom trip/psychotic break that caused severe and persistent anxiety/dread - almost every day - considerable mental anguish/torment for at least 5+ hours. Sure, Its possible I could eventually find the right meds to provide some relief...so my family and therapists implore me to endure.

I've come across threads where the poster seems young and depressed...but not quite in severe mental crisis. Ultimately its not for me to judge (nor can I from a mere message board thread), but it sounds to me some posters lives do have potential for turning more positive with time. Not trying to discount anyone's pain or lived experience...just gently challenge the perspective that there's no hope for them.

young children in the sense that they shouldnt even understand ctb or get to a point of considering it. i always get so sad when i see that a child as young as 8 or so has killed themselves. i dont know i was a suicidal 11 year old and i still wish i did it then to prevent all that is now.

Beautiful point you've raised there.
While everyone thinks that their pain is a lot, the truth is far from real. Not to look down upon anyone's circumstances, but may be, my own pain is nothing in front of someone else's pain.
Pain is a relative thing and how one perceives pain. My father has suffered more than me in his life but he still fights life. On the other hand, my pain is not even 10% of his, and i have been looking to ctb for the last two decades..

Young people who have witnessed pain for the very first time may feel it is a lot and can make them feel suffocated. I think, everyone who suffers from pain should come here, post their problem and pain point, and get the love and support from the super duper caring community..

If they still feel their pain is a lot more for them to manage through, i think they can go ahead with whatever they choose .

Otherwise, there are ways to program the mind to improve life and its circumstances almost miraculously. I have put a thread in this regard. As there are ppl who actually don't wanna ctb but are forced to consider it. I wanted to give them hope and empower them with ways to improve their life situation

Also, i feel, our society needs to learn a lot of things .
Failure in exams is not equivalent to failure in life
My friend who used to get below average marks in school is more successful than me right now.

So, the pressure should be eased

Interesting thread, and ditto responses.
Even though I am a very fervent advocat of free choice (and means!) when it comes to taking one's own life, I do find it hard to take when someone very young wants to CTB over a failed relationship.

Children and teenagers. Even cramming a few good experiences in (if possible) before departing at 20 would make it more rational. At 20 you are an adult.

I really think anyone should be able to. You could punch someone in the face as hard as you can, but then go "well, someone in the world got shot right now, be glad I didn't shoot you," but that doesn't make the punch hurt any less. Everyone should have access to and be able to ctb, in my opinion. Love and peace♥️

While i myself wanted to ctb as a teenager, i have a counter argument here. Not that I'm pro-life or something.. i feel as the generations are changing, kids are getting more and more sensitive. I myself used to feel bad when scolded by my parents for a really small thing. On the other hand, some of my friends used to get beaten with a stick and still they never thought of ctb. I think our sensitivity plays a major role in how we traverse through life .
While of course we all have the right to choose whatever we want, i think, if kids are trained early in schools on how to deal with stress, trauma, etc.
I volunteered as life skill trainer for underprivileged kids in a govt school in India. I used to do my bit. Then covid happened and I had to stop that volunteership.
I think if kids learn to deal with stress and trauma early, may be, there will be only a few ppl who would wanna ctb.

I'm sorry if my msg feels like I'm looking down on anyone's pain or circumstances. My intention is to empower not to look down on anyone's pain or circumstances.

I will say, my own personal nightmare is to be forced to endure unimaginable suffering due to the system/society around me not being able to recognize just how much pain and suffering I'm actually experiencing. So I wouldn't want to subject someone else to that.

It doesn't, mate. I agree as well, many kids today are too sensitive. When I'd said anyone, I meant people 18+. Often kids and teenagers especially, especially in this age are quite fragile. Society should definitely start teaching kids about this stuff though... It isn't fair to anyone that they scold people for having trauma without giving any viable means of helping with it.

Very true, society and schools should come up with programs for parents as well as kids, that'll help them raise a happy healthy child who cares for others and is not a selfish brat.. That way we can possibly develop a better society. Better the society, lesser the ppl who want to ctb..

My maternal uncle used to be jealous of me as i used to get a lot of love, and his kids were roughly my age. So, at every stage of life, he used to compare me with his kids and i was better than both of his sons at every stage😂 i even got under top 10 rank in India. While his son appeared in the same exam and got it in thousands 😁 but this maternal uncle and his wife literally spoiled my childhood a lot

I don't think it's our place to choose for someone else.
If we're just getting to the point, I mean, life is long and depressing
That doesn't mean you are depressed.
Life goes on too long, which is why we fight for death with dignity.
There is nothing wrong with choices when you're done with treatment. Nothing wrong with standing up and fighting for your right to that choice.
You will always encounter people who fear what they do not understand, and that's why we fight for this movement.
It is necessary for the people. We need safety nets. We need to normalize the topic of death, and we need to stop criminalizing it. Because it comes for everybody.
That's why we're prepared to talk about those tough questions they shy away from and fear discussing. They have the
delusional fantasy that they are going to live forever. We take a realistic approach and explore it. We are open-minded, and maybe that's what terrifies them
They can't control the fact that we all die someday, and they can't control the fact that we have our own minds and opinions on the topic.
They are truly the
Ignorant ones on the topic; we've explored it extensively.
Let's face it, people do not want to talk about the topic that you may die someday; that scares the s*** out of them.
This is where we have the advantage and where we are five steps ahead of them. We have normalized this topic until we don't fear it.
We're the ones who have removed the stigma from this topic.
You will go on one day at a time like the rest of us. That doesn't mean you give up on the good fight for choice and for death with dignity for all people cuz it's a gift to humanity.

It's becoming a common agreement here; there's something wrong with the world.
Agree that maybe there could be limits, but probably not anymore
