Is it mainly because of mental illness, physical illness, debt, relationship problems, loneliness, trauma, or something else?

physical illness, mental illness, trauma and overall just no will to live in this world nor any love for it. i do love my family and friends alot but my daily anguish is far more than my love for them. i cannot continue to keep living on for their sake.

A great big combination of mental health, past regrets, choices, the state of modern society and the rise of technology, the climate and just having a hard time of functioning as a bleep bloop human.

Opening my eyes makes me wish we could shut them forever.
I want to put this head in a cannon and blast it off these shoulders.

Mental illness, trauma, no possibility for recovery, and the fact that our world has gone totally insane plus the ongoing 6th mass extinction.

Mental illness, loneliness, and trauma are my reasons for wanting to die.

No matter how hard I try, no matter how long I persevere, I will never be truly happy. I will always wish I never existed.

Although I appear happy on the outside, I have a nagging sense of unhappiness inside. I genuinely like people, especially women. I get along with them very well. I communicate with them. They can be great friends. but lately, not even interacting with women has stalled my suicidal thoughts.

I have always said that if I can get my oldest daughter settled into the new mobile home, I can finally die.

My wife, my son, and my younger daughter would all be fine without me, but my oldest daughter would be crushed and suicidal herself if I were to hurt myself. So I can't do that. but now I feel like that once we get her settled, I can finally die of sickness, disease, or misadventure and she will be all right.

If I had time, I would have to prepare her for my death.

More later...

What is the point of being alive? The question is quite common and the answer is always an individual construction. If we extrapolate, we can create supernatural meanings associated with our purposes (or senses). When we fail to use artifice to create meaning for existence, there is very little left. Living becomes a useless burden. To be born, to survive (at any cost by a biological programming present in any form of life) and then to die. No philosophy or line of thought can placate the feeling of the uselessness of this process. It is not a rule, many can perceive reality and still enjoy the time they have. Others live one day at a time, trying to ignore the rest as much as possible. But what about when none of this works? The Desire to be dead is the only logical and rational thought possible. Waking up every day, working, eating, defecating, showering and observing the same things in a loop.We speak the same words, hear the same words, see the same things. And even in a broader perspective, we perceive repetition: wars, politics, technology. They seem to be merely distractions, like all human constructs. This point of view is mine as someone over 60, and it certainly carries significant weight. In short, wanting to die is logical and rational. As if that were not enough, old age makes everything even worse. If at 20 I already saw no meaning, now it is much more explicit. Just a useless wait to die, relying only on luck to avoid unnecessary suffering from some disease or condition that would make living even worse than it is naturally. Being aware of all this is what one could call 'hell'.

Just wanting some peace

For me ceasing to exist is all that's positive in this existence of torturous suffering and no matter what I'll just always prefer the peace of non-existence over suffering in this existence that I just always saw as the most terrible mistake.

This existence is an abomination that just tortures existing beings with no limit as to how much agony one can feel and it's just so terrible and dreadful how humans cause all this suffering and torture there was never a need for by imposing this existence in the first place. For me existence will just always be the problem and I'd just never wish to suffer in this torturous, futile existence no matter what, this existence should just never be imposed, I'll always find it so deeply undesirable to exist, it's just so terrible how the torture of being burdened with this existence can continue for decades longer just for one to face the terrible extreme agony of old age, all I want is the peace of non-existence.

The way our society works (fake it til you make it, use others as a means to an end), as well as having to work an ungodly amount of hours only to just barely get by.

True, I think modern society is an absurdity. I can't imagine that we were meant to live like this

Mental illness and trouble maintaining relationships, being verbally abused and emotionally neglected for years by a shitty mom, sensory issues, having to work to just exist, society's refusal to change, financial issues. And also capitalism.

Loneliness, autism, trauma, boredom, apathy. I put in all of this effort survive, and suffered so much, and for what? So I can work at a warehouse? So I can have few friends? So I can be without love? So that I can spend the next 50 years of my life living in a small box working everyday to be able to afford that small box, so that I can have the privilege of waking up tomorrow to go to work so that I can live in my small box? When I'm not working I'm hating life. I've hated life since I was 5. I want out. I went to college for nothing. I spent my childhood telling myself that I would be able to do it, I'd be able to make a better life when I was older. I had that hope that I clung to and it died. Now we're here.

I watched a video on Youtube explaining how humans lived before they settled down. Groups of people worked for resources together and shared them equally. Those who were selfish and kept resources to themselves got exiled consistently. It worked out peacefully, until they eventually began to find new ways to obtain resources... including newborn humans. The beginning of the end.

I don't even know how to get into it honestly, but this quote by Johnny Depp sums it up quite well,
"You can close your eyes to the things you don't want to see, but you can't close your heart to the things you don't want to feel"

Yeah.. Some people who feel too much might not be able to handle or take the pain of it all, after being hurt so much, I think that's me

Absolutely. There's so many like us who, no matter how much we're told to cope, can't escape the pain

But the other half is like (which is what I was hinting at) "Nope, I don't see your issues. Move along, nothing to see here. Be grateful for your 9-5, etc"

The dogged determination to not outlive my means or my physical and mental capacity to exit at the time and place and in the manner of my choosing. Life owes me this much.

Many things but also life just seems dumb now. Work until close to death. But your employer can cut you and ruin your life at any moment.
What a scam. Then hope you don't suffer in your older years. Or victim of some violent crime.
I'm just sick of it all. It's an absurd system.
