what do you considerate life? give me it's "definition"
why are we alive, and do you believe in god, or reincarnation, or anything after-life?

me, im a nihilist, for so much time now, for me it's all meaningless and worthless, nothing really matters, we all fade into ashes, it's all about who enjoys that process the most

I would say life is just when something is conscious. We just alive cus of aberrant chemistry and crude physics (I stole that line by ijustwishtodie as I think thats best sums it up.) I would say there isn't any after-life or reincarnation. Only meaning I see from life is to lessen the suffering of others and benefit them.

Couldn't agree more with you. Meaningless and worthless. Glad I'm not the only one that thinks that way.

We are just alive because it happened that way, no reason, that's just the way it happened. And when we die we're gone forever. So we just basically popped into existence for no reason and die for no reason. It's all just meaningless. I'd say I'm a nihilist. I think if you're born with the right genes you can effectively create your own meaning in life. However, if you get dealt a shitty hand then you're pretty much stuck without a meaning or purpose, like I am. I'm also a materialist, I believe consciousness arises in the brain and if the brain is destroyed it's gone forever. So no, I don't believe in reincarnation or an afterlife. Just complete oblivion.

You're right, it really just is about who enjoys the process of life the most or who is happy, at the end of the day. Welp, I'm not happy, so I'm going to self destruct to solve that. Then I don't have to be here anymore.

I consider life as a biological gamble. We came into the this life with the DNA and the circumstances that we were given. There's no magic. It's simple biology.

I believe that we're alive to connect with others and experience as much as humanly possible. If done correctly, we can so without hurting others. But humans are flawed creatures so things don't work out that way.

I have mixed feelings about "god" and anything after this life. Personally, I don't believe in a benevolent deity who watches over us. Maybe there's a divine architect. Or maybe this universe just popped into existence and it just so happens to have self-centered humans in it and we created "god" to help us navigate the scary things that we really don't truly understand. I really don't know.

Reincarnation would make sense. In science, we're taught that energy cannot be created nor destroyed. It can only be transferred. What is force but pure energy. So, maybe after this body craps out our energy goes somewhere else.

We can probably all find out why we are individually here. Why our parents chose to reproduce. We are here thanks or no thanks to their desires.

Life as a whole? I just tend to believe it evolved to be like this. It maybe just happened that there were the necessary elements on this planet with a temperate enough climate to allow for life to generate. I suppose chemical/ biological reactions to begin with, that then evolved over billions of years- each organism adapting to suit its environment till voila- all that we have now. That's my feeling.

I'm really not sure whether there's spirituality or a God behind it all but, I'm hoping not. It would deeply concern me to know that all of this was built with intention.

Because it's so unavoidably sadistic in many ways. I'd prefer it if it were all chance- then, it's only unconscious, indiscriminate bad or good luck- depending on your circumstances.

Of course- it isn't indiscriminate when it comes to humans. Would- be human parents do have the capacity to judge what kind of world this is, how good their genes are, how stable their finances look etc. They could have at least tried to predict how our lives would shape up.

I just think we try to find meaning as a coping mechanism because life will likely be difficult and painful at times. It can help to feel like there is at least some point as to why we're putting up with it all. I think that can feel very real to an individual but I doubt there is an overall meaning.

I'm probably the closest to absurdism in terms of philosophy. I even like the word as a description. I think life is absurd. We end up working so hard and, for what ultimately? I guess the ideal is to make it feel worthwhile. I think that can be worth at least pursuing- if we're stuck here.

But, life at it's worse is a trap I feel. An emotional entanglement that our parents tie us up in that we then have to suffer guilt or bereavement to break- depending on who goes first. Maybe for others, it is a gift but then, who would play the lottery if there were (deeply unpleasant) boobie prizes too? You either win a million or, someone comes round and breaks both your legs. The unfairness about birth is parents leave it to their children to face those highly variable odds.

yes exactly this, if god exists then he's the real satan, why would you ever allow, humans to go through such pain everyday?

I'm a nihilist and a materialist by default I guess. I don't take any pride in it and I still chase after scraps of meaning in philosophy and religion. Like everyone I'm just searching for a narrative that would make being alive tolerable.

I don't know. Yes I believe in God but I don't know why we have such horrible things in our world. Or why we're here. I keep asking, but what's the point? I don't see one. For most of my life I've not enjoyed things, really just wanted to fast forward to the end. Now I see the lack of planning and my family suffers because of it. Why? Why does someone like me even exist? I hate it.

That existence is the most dreadful, torturous abomination that just causes harm and suffering with no limit as to how much agony one can feel and is completely futile, I'll always see existence as the most terrible, tragic mistake that just leads to decay and death anyway and to never suffer again is just all I hope for.

I believe death to simply be non-existence where all is gone and forgotten and I wish I never suffered more than anything, for me non-existence is just all that's positive, only in non-existence will I be at peace from this existence that just tortures existing beings and causes endless amounts of suffering that there was never a need for at all, all for the sake of it.

Interesting I think that we are here purely by an accident of biology there was nothing before we were born and nothing after we die just like a computer being commissioned and at the end of its life decommissioned why the world exists could be accidental too who knows
