What is the rationale behind space colonization?

They say that we should colonize space to save our species from going extinct

But what is so bad about extinction?
extinction===no consciousness::no suffering

Besides space colonization will not stop extinction
(extinction is inevitable ;it will only delay the inevitable)

It's the fantasy of billionaires to have endless land to extract from. Space colonization, under their terms, will just result in a constant cycle of extraction, destruction, and advance. Humanity would effectively turn into a Cancer.

good thing that fantasy will never get realised because space olonization is a pipe dream and completely pointless

Comes from this spiece's deep survival instinct for wanting more because there might be a time when there is no resoirces left and then its best that "I" have enough to survive and live as long as possible to reproduce as much as possible.
The paradox is that we are the cause for that "time when there is no resources left".
Such is the curse of living being.

The same reason why every living being on earth hasn't ended itself immediately upon coming into existence. Life is driven to fill every void it finds and keep searching for new voids once existing ones are fully occupied.
