Personally, I think it's whatever you want to happen. If you want a heaven, you'll get a heaven. If you want to cease to exist, you'll cease to exist. If you want to be born into a better world, then that's exactly what will happen. I believe after suffering in this world, we should be rewarded with whatever we want. What do you guys think happens?

Well, we've spent billions of years before our life started... not existing. Can you be in a state of non-existence? Is that in itself existence?
I wouldn't be shocked if after death we spend the rest of eternity in that state of non-existence. It's not so bad really. I mean, those last, what 14 billion years or so before our birth went by pretty quickly didn't they?

I partly believe in reincarnation. After death - no matter how much time passes - there is a possibility of being reborn anywhere and at any time: in the past or the future, and perhaps not on our planet, but on another. And since time is not perceived in the state of non-existence, for us, rebirth could occur immediately after death.

In that case, one might assume that we existed prior to our current life, even if we do not remember it. Likewise, in the next life - if such a thing exists - we will have no knowledge of our current one.

Or, if things turn out to be far more prosaic, we will simply slip into non-existence - much like the state we were in before we were born.

the thing about reincarnation is, if we cannot actually remember who we are or anything about our past lives , are we really the same "person" or consciousness

idk how to explain it but without our memories we might as well be anybody else

The topic of reincarnation can be discussed endlessly, and there are many nuances that could steer the conversation in a completely different direction. However, I agree with the idea that a different life implies a different personality - a person entirely unconnected to who we are now. Things might be different if the existence of an unchanging soul were proven, but I do not believe in that 🤔

This topic comes up here periodically. Since there is no evidence of the existence of a God or an afterlife it's up to the individual to believe what they want. I believe that we go to heaven when we die. It's comforting to me that I will one day see family members and pets who have passed on. I also tend to believe in reincarnation in a New Age sense - that we can choose to come back to learn life lessons.

The life lessons part is so strange to me about all the NDE people who say they've been told Earth is a school. People grow up in ridiculous circumstances and never know how to figure out life or have mental or physical illnesses and things way beyond their control. Like my life would have been way different if I had a roadmap on how to live it when I was younger rather than now when I'm 40. The lesson I would take from this is I should have had a roadmap.

It all just seems so cruel.

I think things just end. Like, nothing. It's not darkness, it's nothing. Like trying to think of some experience you had before you were born. Complete nothingness. But I would find it very fun if I could turn into a ghost and haunt people

Time has no meaning when we aren't alive and we can only be alive if certain things happen exactly, but we have infinite time and will have perception again when the conditions for it happen again. I believe consciousness is formed by matter so infinite time + law of conservation = eternal loop of ignorance. Even with heat death of the universe, we can't know what happens in an infinite amount of time. We were born once, why can't we be born again in a new form that can contain consciousness. Then perception is born and we are ignorant once again. I hate this worthless cycle, I hope this isn't true. If hope either true death or true immortality is real because this feels worse than hell. Everything we do means nothing and is just fulfilling temporary desires and temporary suffering (temporary as in erased by death, some suffering/desires can last our entire lives). Hollow, Hopeless, Inevitable. If anyone has any counters to this please tell me.
Posted this earlier today. Hope I'm wrong tho.

I believe people who had faith in God corporated with his grace go to heaven and if not hell.

That'd be really cool.

Tho I don't believe in an afterlife, so when a person dies, that's it, they died. It would be more interesting if there is an afterlife, but I think I prefer an "eternal sleep" kinda ending.

Probably nothing like dragonofenvy said. But I really hope this is some sort of simulation to get our consciousness ready for a better place.

probably nothing. but that begs the question, what does nothing feel like? i hope it's not something miserable. maybe you just stay stuck in a dream that never ends?

I hate to be that guy. But I believe death is just eternal sleep without dreaming. Just completely peaceful.
