Oh, GREAT question, I love it!

For me, it is, if covid stay under some type of control, to hop on a plane and explore some. If not then same ol, same ol.

Maybe find a person to have walks and talks with also.

Seems like everyone wants to go on holiday, prices will soar when the borders open up, I booked a good hotel at a very low price yeserday, only paying 4 days before checkin, and you can cancel if your plans change. I will book more hotels, incase I decide to go to another place. Flights are a different story...better to pay full price, then you can cancel.

I wish I could travel, but it seems I will stay where I am and frankly I don't think covid restrictions are going to lift up until next year.

My health went from "Very good" to "Very bad", so recovery might be my priority.

I already went a few good trips like the Scottish Highlands, London and I stayed at a country park for a few days. I will most likely ctb at the end of the year.

Your health is important, without it you cant do much. I hope you find a way to recover.

i see traveling as a form of recovering (quickfix).

Borders will open for some countries, and not for others. I am thinking about going to Thailand, but they have major pandemic issues at the moment, apparently their goal is to open up by October for vaccinated tourists. Apparently Phuket is their sandbox, but I dont want to go to Phuket. We have beaches here.

I can only travel aboard in December.

I was planning a backpacking trip. I've never done it before. Was hoping to travel around the PNW for awhile. Then I was planning on a trip to SE Asia with my partner. Unfortunately I don't think it's going to happen for a few reasons. I really wish I did more traveling.

I do not have any plans really. I hope to sleep as much as possible, existence to me is pointless. All we are doing at the end of the day is waiting around for death to come, our inevitable fate. I lack the energy to do most things.

I have given myself 12 months to turn things around and if I can then all well and good, I'm going to see my GP next week to reassess things and try a new approach. If I can't turn it around then I will head for the exit but I'll at least given it a go and sorted stuff out.

I'm not sure but my wife may be having a relationship, the things I've put her through she deserves some happiness, so good luck to her.

Without this forum I'm sure I wouldn't be here to give it a go. Best wishes all.

If you decide to visit Thailand go to Chiang Mai and Bangkok at a bare minimum. If you prefer to skip Phuket and you have time you can go to Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) and / or Singapore from there.

-----------------------------------
I have been traveling internationally a bit already. As a note, travel is a little cumbersome now in some places as many countries require advanced approval from their tourism authorities which include taking a Covid test to enter. Many countries require PCR tests taken within 72 hours of flight which are a bit pricey. Don't dare have any travel snafus or miss your flight as your country approval could expire. In this case you could find yourself scurrying to find another testing location on demand that is able to provide immediate results. Then you have to restart the approval process with your destination.

With all the headaches, I wouldn't recommend 3-4 day trips. IMHO a week should be spent at a bare minimum wherever you go in order for it to be worthwhile.

Thank you for the info!

I have been to Thailand 13 times. I usually stay in the Bangkok region.

Guess I can have a similar experience in Nepal, then again, I like a mixture of traditional Buddhist culture (sangha), and modern city life, Bangkok provides both. I usually stay between 3-5 weeks when I go there.

Went to Singapore in 2016, and stayed in Little India for 5 days. It was a good experience, modern, pity that I did not stay longer, should've gotten a guide to show me around, at the time I was on my way to Thailand for 30 days.

I am aware that I may get stuck in Thailand if my country decides to ban international travel, or if Thailand decides to do so. That could potentially be a huge problem..but i am more concerned about Thailands border than ours, because we will be fully vaccinated by December, plus received the booster shot.

It is not an easy decision to make. My other option is to travel locally, but it is pretty much as expensive as traveling aboard, minus the things I want to see. My last holiday was in 2018, so I am quite desperate to venture out. The difference is , here I can hire a car on the other-side, and go see multiple places, or venture into the wild.

I can feel that my body is getting so much weaker, I dont want to wait too long before I go where I wanna go. One time I visited the clinic on Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport, and the dr was very concerned about the fact that I travel alone, told her that is how it is, always been that way, no one knows how buggered i am until I either pull my shirt off, or show them xrays, and mri's.

Me too. Am so tired of the stuff I need to do before CTB. Like throw stuff away, move house...so I don't affect anyone too much and wrap up my affairs.
