i sh from time to time and only stopped because i noticed the scar became a keloid scar instead. i might have a keloid genetics i'm not sure. i noticed it's the worst on both of my thighs. and it's also forming as a keloid too on my arm and upper arm (with upper arm being worse). i'm just assuming that the keloid is usually worse on the thicksr side of skin(?).

is there any way to prevent keloid scar? please let me know bc it's way too obvious!! T__T

as a side note : this is probably my fault but my only sh aftercare is rinsing it with running water and let it be. does that make any difference?

I never had big problem with keloids. But for my regular scars and the one that were getting bad I used a lot of oils and scar gels. If the wound is still "crying" and looked like something will start to grow I use scar tape. The same kind the pimple patches are made of. You can get it in this big tape rolls, sometimes it's sold as a strechmarcs tape (at least where I live). And I really recoment Bio-oil (it's in this small peach colour package). No idea if you can get it where you are but it's great.

I'm not sure that you can prevent it. I think some people are just more susceptible to this type of scarring due to their genetics.

And! Remember about proper wound care! Try to be as sanitary as you can when you sh, and don't forget proper after care! Sometimes if wound need stitches, but you can't get ones there are this small "stich tapes" that can hold skin together. It's not the best but it's better than nothing. Proper wound care is more important to not get a scar thats growing out of its mind than any after it scar care.

Yeah, I'm mixed indigenous and black. And after talking to tattoo artists, and experience with Sh myself, certain races/skin types, black especially keloid more easy, as recognized by the American dermatology academy. Very interesting if you google it!

So it's hard to prevent if you're predisposed to them.

If you MUST sh, avoid deep cuts ( I.e seeing white. ) they tend to keloid the most.

Oh, this makes so much sense then!! now that i think about it, it does seem like the onw thag forms keloid the most is when i cut deeper. And yeah i'm also southeast asian n i'm def really tan. so it makes so much sense now...😭😭 i'll try avoid doing it too deep in that case bc keloid annoys me so much. thanks!!!

Please don't cut deep. Please don't cut st all. I know I'm a stranger on the internet. But I've been addicted to fentanyl, THAT was easier to kick than Sh.

It's a nasty habit that never goes away. It's an addiction. Idk how far you are into sh. But please. I care about you.

Either way. Just. If you must cut , don't do it deep.

I find good alternatives to be holding Ice cube in hand, or pretend cutting with a red sharpie.

I'm sorry to preach. But yeah. If you must. Just do cat scratches. It won't keloid as much.

This ! Very important . Great insight.

Yup. I use the oils on fully healed wounds. But be aware - the process of fading of the wounds could be triggering.

Truly red ones, when healed usually gave me the "yeah, I did that and won't anymore". But when they get really pale/skinlike... The thought that it was a long time, the though I want a fresh one.... For me it usually get worse with the "dissappearing" of the red and fresh. Be prepared, I was not.

Tretinoin works pretty well. You can go to the highest strength off rip since it isn't your face.
