Unsure whether to factory reset pc before I ctb

I feel like this is something I should do to protect the forum but would it be enough just to delete my browsing history and email accounts? I feel pretty sentimental about my computer and I'd like for my family to have access to my music, films, games and photos to remember me by. Also I'm worried about people inferring I was trying to hide something more sinister if I destroyed all my data.

My friend died unexpectedly, he was a bookkeeper, and his clients lost all their records because his computer was encrypted.

Always a good idea to have a flash drive containing all your sentimental, and critical data. Such drive must placed somewhere where people can find it, and maybe put a huge red label on it. One could also store it in the cloud, and leave behind credentials for access, per delayed email, or one could do both options. I would say both, because your equipment could be confiscated.

If you dont know when you going to die, then you could configure a new delayed email date every second month or so.

This is pretty much relevant to everyone on the planet, unless you do not have any photos, or documents that you want to leave behind when you die of natural ,non-natural causes, or permanent drive failure.

If you just wanna protect the forum then deleting history + email should be enough. I'm planning to securely wipe all my devices and just write the most precious stuff to a CD, since they can last 30+ years unlike hard drives.

You can always run Darik's Boot and Nuke. More effective than a factory reset.

Platter hard drives are normally considered some of the most reliable long-term storage, though there are special optical discs which claim extraordinary archival performance.
