Donald Trump's statement that there are only two genders is a glaring example of ignorance, arrogance, and a refusal to face reality. This simplistic view disregards not only the complexity of human existence but also the scientific evidence that demonstrates how gender is a social, cultural, and psychological construct—not a mere derivative of biological sex. Male, female, and intersex are biological realities, but gender is not defined by genitals or chromosomes. It is the result of experiences, personal histories, and social constructs, capable of producing thousands of valid identities. The idea that only two genders exist is not just a ridiculous oversimplification, but a deliberate attempt to impose a conservative and rigid ideology that completely ignores social and scientific progress.
Neuroscientific, endocrinological, and genetic studies show that gender is a continuum, not a dichotomy, and that the human brain cannot be neatly classified as strictly "male" or "female." Trump, with his outdated worldview, not only ignores these findings but perpetuates a dangerous narrative that fuels discrimination and hatred toward those who do not conform to this binary framework. His rhetoric is inherently violent, an attack on the freedom and rights of millions of people who deserve to live their identities without justification. Trump does not merely represent backward thinking but is also a threat to the recognition of human complexity and diversity. Reducing gender to two options is not only false but morally and intellectually dishonest, proving how disconnected he is from reality and how deeply lacking in empathy he is for the human condition. His words do nothing but legitimize oppression and deny the humanity of those who do not fit into a binary framework built on prejudice and ignorance. Humanity is far more complex than Trump can comprehend, and his refusal to accept this fact highlights his inability to evolve beyond a backward and harmful worldview.
It is no surprise, then, that Trump aligns himself with and supports questionable figures like Giorgia Meloni, Italy's fascist president, who has never hidden her ideological roots. The party currently governing Italy is a direct heir of the Fascist Party: it began as the Italian Social Movement (MSI), evolved into the National Alliance (AN), and eventually became Brothers of Italy (Fratelli d'Italia), all while maintaining the same ideological foundation. Trump's ideas are no different from those of other reactionary leaders like Viktor Orbán, all united by the same desire to drag the world back to an oppressive and authoritarian vision based on discrimination, ignorance, and fear of progress. Their politics are nothing more than fascism dressed in modernity, but they remain just as dangerous.
