• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Note: I'm probably not going to CTB soon, just want to post smth helpful.

I think that saving any media one wants others to see to a USB, then factory resetting laptops, phones, etc before CTB can protect SaSu (eg protect the messages I sent with users here, some restricted threads, and bring less unwanted attention to SaSu) one's privacy, and the privacy of others (eg a logged in discord would show the family lots of conversations without permission from the intended recipients).

Since the posting of goodbye threads help other users with closure and can offer helpful insight, the resets could be staggered, eg primary phone and PC/laptops, then reset the secondary phone after a user posts the final message of a goodbye thread.

This may even slow or hinder police snooping (at least, for the locally stored data, online accounts could persist data).

Thoughts?

That's a great thought. One needs to actually clean up the devices to clear all traces. Because authorities will check all the devices to learn more about the case.
I had this thing in my mind but i was overlooking it. But i think this is mission critical to ctb.

Would just like to throw in that you need to check how factory resets work on your device. Sometimes data can still be read from "reset" devices.

Also, remember that online accounts store everything and some companies are more than happy to share your entire history with authorities.

The only way you're going to be truly safe is to destroy your devices and throw them out months before you actually CTB. Even then there's no guaranteeing it, because as Forveleth said some companies are willing share every detail about you the moment it's requested with 0 questions asked.
