How do you guys feel about this place compared to reddit? I feel like people are more genuine here and sensitive, whereas the people on reddit will say anything that turns out to be too harsh. I also feel like this place has more of a community vibe whereas reddit feels more estranged and detached. There's no way you'll ever find people supporting your choice to ctb on there, nonetheless any real information you can get about ctbing.

On Reddit if you post about thoughts of ctb, no matter which subreddit you post in, there's quite a strong chance it will get deleted by mods. Censorship around ctb is very strong on that platform. I'm one of many refugees from the fascist dictatorship that is Reddit. The sad thing is there are talks of censoring and shutting down this site. It's a less free world every day no matter where you turn.

Reddit is a place where everyone wants to be "right" and bash you for not following their ideals. I hate that place.

Reddit is an unusable cesspool. It is full of bots, largely astroturfed, severely censored, and the humans there are generally awful. Every visit causes brain damage.

They banned me. I received a message that I was encouraging suicide. I can't even remember doing that. I hate living but I don't recall encouraging someone to act on their suicidal thoughts.

i used to frequent r/suicidewatch years ago before coming on here. besides meeting someone there who groomed me, i'd say this place actually sees suicide as a potentially favourable way out. reddit on the other hand doesn't even entertain that perspective, and if you try to you get banned. other than that, i feel like people here are much more genuine and compassionate.

This place is worlds above reddit.
We all share a common value (albeit an unfortunate one) but we are amongst our kind here. I personally have not been here long but so far have only witnessed supportive, open minded, intelligent, non judgemental people who are here to communicate with and support other like minded people be it during moments of joy, boredom, crisis or as companionship during their last moments.
You can't find that on reddit!

r/SanctionedSuicide was banned off of reddit years ago, and I don't think any actual reason was given. That should make the choice obvious.

This place is FAR superior to that of Reddit. The ability to have an open discussion about suicide, death, right to die, and bodily autonomy to name a few, along with other similar topics, is immense. Furthermore, even if other spaces may allow some semi-free discussion about said topics, it is generally censored or tailored towards a certain narrative, which limits the freedom of open discussion or being able to consider ALL views even if they aren't always perfect. Additionally, this place allows for discussion of methods (not sourcing nor encouragement) and just having general information and knowledge about the risks and reliability (as well as peacefulness and accessibility) of said methods is immense. I cannot think of many other spaces that even allow method discussion at all.

Even comments like "I hope you find peace" were determined to be "inciting violence" at that time so almost everything was seen as rule-breaking.

I was modded several times for telling teenagers that ODing on pain killers will not kill them and is dangerous. Apparently reddit does not care about 15 year olds scaring their parents, going to A&E, and giving themselves liver damage. That place is a joke.

They consider anything that isn't 100% against suicide, as being "encouraging suicide"
Hell, I got banned from the suicidewatch subreddit for just asking a casual question about setting up a will

Always hated Reddit tbh it's good for hobbies and that's about it.

SS is way more accepting and people don't ram recovery options or support services down your throat as if you're just broken and need to be fixed in some way.

Fuck Reddit.

The level of over-moderating on that sub is out of it's mind insane. The site is notorious for mods curb-stomping anyone who doesn't bend the knee anyways so ig it's to be expected.

Well reddit is all about getting money from advertisers so they'll ban anything that looks bad for advertisers
This place isn't perfect but the only good option for talking about suicide

Why do you say "this place isn't perfect" what have you come across on sasu that made you feel that way?

Anything is better than reddit. Reddit is only good if you have a sudden question which someone already may have asked.

Yeah, it's dumb as shit.
A handful of people on a power trip "moderating" aka banning anything and anyone who doesn't say exactly what they want them to

Some people straight up romanticizing suicide and just me having personal beliefs that seem to collide with everyone on here lol

Here is way better. I'm not nearly as judged. I posted on Reddit about questions regarding getting an internship and received some nasty replies. There's a select few subreddits on Reddit that I like. A lot of funny meme ones, ones for games and stuff, and antiwork because I am against the idea of having to work yourself to the bone for survival, some people have to work two jobs, which is crazy to me.

On reddit it depends some communities are good, some are not. And it's more mainstream there. This is a niche area.

And to piggy back on what another user has said, this place isn't perfect either since even children can get in easily and get the information etc.

You won't know that you are talking to some teen and helping them which is really nuts to me
