So, I was perusing on the Jungle Website. Actually, I was looking for a particular seller of SN referenced in another thread, when I came across this:

Amazon product ASIN B086D725S7

Not sure really what to make of this. Not sure if it's just capitalism at its worst preying on the vulnerable (us), or if there's another explanation.

Yikes. Not funny or clever. Probably a new addition to the so-called "kits" to make a few bucks and grab a few more headlines.

You think? LOL 🤣 I didn't even think of that. But if that is the case, I say way to go Jungle site. That's how you fight back. Maybe they'll get some T-shirts up, too.

Whatever keeps the cash flowing, right? I'm sure the lawsuit publicity has brought plenty of new activity to the Jungle. But, I can only see this hurting SS more, as if this is the kind of bullshit product we want.

Or maybe I'm too cynical and should lean into it. If it were clear and had a line to measure 50 mL, I might be into it.
👍👍 👍 Yeah, they should have made it more useful, huh. Maybe the next iteration?

Does seem bizarre. I was wondering whether it might refer to a different type of nitrite but it looks like it's all mainly salts of various kinds. Not something you'd really brag about.

It's just weird. Don't imagine many people would want to invite discussion on- 'what does your mug mean?' Not many folk wear their suicidal ideation as a badge of honour in the real world...

There's bots that will take keywords that you search for and put them on shirts and mugs to get you to buy them. It's probably that

WOW.

Is this AI in action? Creating mugs for often searched articles?

The lesson for me is pretty clear: If you report on MSM and social media about specific methods, people will go and try to find them.
Well done Ms. Goldberg, I guess.

That's a whole other level of disturbing.

I mean... if it's bot-produced, it started with a lawsuit of parents grieving for their kids.

Interestingly: it's only available on the US site. Haven't been able to find it on the .ca or .uk page.
Different algorithms? Different safeguards? Or simply not a large enough market for bot-sellers?

Hmmm ... I guess I am inclined to see this sort of thing as grim, black humor--though I appreciate that many will not find this funny. I guess that's just the way I roll ... I've always seen the blackest humor in anything. Not meaning any offense but here is another example:
Suicide Much as I do appreciate the humor here, I think the line about 'murder-suicide' takes things a little far, since that enters into a very different territory to my mind.

I can see the ads now;"For people who really want to get away from it all!" "The perfect gift for any and all occasions." "Now Ver. 2.2 with measurement markers for ease of use!" "Ver. 2.2 also glows in the dark for those leaving at night!" What use is such a product for someone ctb? Although it might be fun to take your sn method out of such a cup, then when the autopsy results come in wouldn't someone then figure it out.

Yes. That is a thing that happens on Amazon (mugs and tee shirts, both), especially if they cannot find what you're looking for.

As others have said, it does make sense now about AI generating this mug advertisement.

Yeah, at least make it a beaker, or have mL lines on it.
You could test the AI concept by doing a search on Jungle with keywords "Got Nitrite", "glass beaker", and "milliliter" or "ml line" or something like that and see what comes up. Maybe a useful exit beaker ad will be generated.

The AI concept makes sense with these "death kits" that are mentioned in the lawsuit against the Jungle site. It makes sense, now at least, that AI may be combining items together in the form of a "kit" for people doing searches for SN. If that is the case, I think the lawsuit will fail, or at least should fail. The Jungle site should be able to show easily that this is how their algorithm works, and that it does this for anything searched for on their site. Actually, I think the entire case should be thrown out before it even starts, but that's just my opinion. For the one plaintiff who had an underage child (girl I believe) who ctb with SN purchased from the site with a debit or credit card, and they claim Jungle should have stopped it, it seems to me that the parents are the ones who dropped the ball here. Where exactly were they when all this was going on? Is it Jungle's responsibility to police someone's child? As far as I know, SN is not illegal and isn't even a controlled substance, and has no age restrictions that I know. So, Jungle is being sued for selling a legal substance, to someone under age who may not be legally allowed to make purchases with a debit or credit card, and who did so because the parents weren't supervising their child appropriately. In the end I'm sure Jungle will settle the lawsuit just to make it go away, and everyone who shops on Jungle will pay for that in the form of higher prices on everything.
