SN without benzos

Do I really need benzos to ctb with SN? Is the benefit just it being more painless? Why do we need benzos?

benzos can make the whole process more peaceful and can also help relieve anxiety, since the intensity of si is unpredictable, so having them available is better than not having them.

Chances of failing are greater without benzos. Without them thr urge to vomit is even greater (anxiety induced vomiting) also the SI is greater, you may end up calling for help without benzos.

You don't need them, but you do want them if you can get them. Turn your devices off and put them somewhere out of reach so you won't be tempted to call for help.

In a literal sense, all you need to die from SN is the SN. It is the only part of any SN protocol that is fatal.

Everything else, even the meto, is there to try to make the SN more effective and less stressful. Benzos are on the "less stressful" spectrum. The hope is that they'll reduce anxiety and if you can take enough, they might knock you out a little earlier in the process to let the SN do its thing. It isn't strictly necessary, but definitely makes everything a little easier. I was prepared to go in without benzos until I remembered I had some long expired pills that the internet suggests are probably still at least somewhat effective and certainly not toxic. Its not ideal, but its a lot better than nothing. Nothing isn't necessarily impossible, though.

I have Xanax as benzo. Can someone advice me what dosage to take? Plan to take them 30 minutes before drinking SN.

Benzo probably help to speed up time to unconsciousness when combined with propranolol. PPH recommends at least equivalent of 600mg Oxazepam. A former user seemingly passed out in 10 minutes after writing he will consume 20mg alprazolam, so it probably has some benefit if you can access them.
