sh and the hospital

hello! i dont really know where to put this but i wanted to ask some peoples experiences and advice. i self harm a lot, and i can get deep at times. any time my older brother has found out he's always begging me to go to urgent care when the wounds are particularly deep and definitely need stitches. i dont go because i'm terrified they'd put me in a mental hospital. if i went to urgent care or the ER or anything, would they force me into a mental institution? i'm an adult living in the US, if that adds any importance. also just coming to see if anyone has had an experience going to the ER for treatment on sh wounds! i think about going to treat some of the bad ones but i never know what i would even say or what they would say to me. thanks a million!

hey! i've been in a similar situation, wether or not you want to seek treatment for your injuries is up to you. it's mainly minors that see the most involuntary admissions from sh cases, as long as you firmly tell them you are not a harm to yourself and deny they can't do much. i hope this can be reassuring and i'm sorry to hear about your battles
