I think they only ship to businesses nowIs Sn from SD not a thing anymore? I never hear about it on here?
9 months oldHow old is your SD SN?
I keep seeing questions about SN expiring. It's an inorganic salt and preservative. How does it go bad?How old is your SD SN?
Congratulations9 months old
SN is indeed an inorganic salt, and as such, it doesn't "expire" in the way organic compounds do. It doesn't rot, ferment, or decay. Left untouched in a sealed container, stored in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture, it can remain chemically stable for many years—often far beyond any listed expiration date.I keep seeing questions about SN expiring. How long ago was that?SD took my money and never shipped.
I talked to someone who is supposedly a supplier for chem labs, and he said that not to worry because as long as you don't open the original container, the shelf life should be good.I keep seeing questions about SN expiring. It's an inorganic salt and preservative. How does it go bad?
wtf? No waaay.SD took my money and never shipped.
So, if it's in a sealed container, more chances it will be okay?SN is indeed an inorganic salt, and as such, it doesn't "expire" in the way organic compounds do. It doesn't rot, ferment, or decay. But it's about integrity.
The risks arise when SN is exposed to air, especially humid air. It is hygroscopic. This can cause clumping, discoloration, or dissolution—none of which are inherently toxic, but all of which reduce its purity. Impure SN may not induce the intended effect at the expected dose. Worse, it may result in partial reactions (nausea, vomiting, or failure) turning a peaceful exit into an emergency.
So no, it doesn't "expire" like food. But it can degrade in form and potency. That's why people speak of shelf life. Not because the salt dies but because certainty does.
Yeah mine's is a year+ and I'm continuing to hold on. It's nice to have it on-hand but I get concerned about sourcing again years down the road.I'm still holding onto shelf life being 3 years though o_o
Did you get the food grade one or the other option? Worried I ordered the wrong one. Just realized the PPH listed the other option but that's not the one I purchased , says it's 99% though.I have it but I cant test it cause my parents never leave. Some others have said it may not be as pure as Dmc but havent gotten an answer if its pure enough for ctb regardless . Hopefully I can test it next month
Thats the one I go to. In the pretty packagingDid you get the food grade one or the other option? Worried I ordered the wrong one. Just realized the PPH listed the other option but that's not the one I purchased , says it's 99% though.
Oh idk about the packaging, haven't received it yet, but that's a plus! I hope it's sufficient, worried about going to CTB and just getting sick instead. Already suffering enough ;((. The other one only sells to businesses apparently, which also makes me worried because it makes it sound more legitimate.Thats the one I go to. In the pretty packaging
Ya I would test it beforehand <3Oh idk about the packaging, haven't received it yet, but that's a plus! I hope it's sufficient, worried about going to CTB and just getting sick instead.
