Requirements to enter chat has been changed

I received some messages recently from members asking why they are unable to enter chat. We changed the requirements to enter chat to prevent trolls and alt-accounts from entering chats easily and pursuing malicious goals. Thanks for your understanding and I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused to all people who already had access to chat but I can assure that if you keep being active on the site, you'll gain access to chat again in no time. It's frustrating because chat was my only connection to the outside world for the most part and I was active and not a troll. Now I spend every day alone talking to nobody. I feel very sad and alone.

How much did you have to post to get access to the chat again? If you do have access i mean.

yes it did, it appeared and stays in the top right corner to the left of the search bar. my chat unlocked at about 50 messages and you have a much a higher react score than i do already so i think if you just post some more you should regain access to it? but this is just speculation.. i also wonder if mods are manually approving people based on what they post about aswell but i wouldn't know ofc.

Klick the 3 bars in the upper left corner. That opens the menu. Then Support -> Open New Ticket

Since soon after this update, I've noticed that my posts have stopped increasing from activity on forum games and profile posts~ While I understand the reasons behind this (reducing spam created in order to join chat), it feels weird that I and many others probably have 2x as many posts as we should due to having been big participants in the forum games prior to the switch in what counts as a post~

That doesn't show up on safari on my phone. It just says "Your tickets" under support and if you click on that, there's no option to make a new one either. That's what I'm talking about.

Interesting. I'm sorry I don't know why that happens on the Safari Browser. All I can suggest is to try another browser for now (I tried it with Chrome and Opera on my mobile phone). You can open a ticket without having to log into the forum. Or you can logout first and check if you can open a ticket this way via the Safari Browser.

I found out yesterday that it takes time on the forum to do that, and now it's more difficult. Hmm, when you have access, can it be configured in some way? Can only X people message me, or can everyone do it? or something like that?

Does this affect the private conversations feature because I never get alerts that I someone has sent me a message but I frequently show that I have private conversations sent to me. I can never find these conversations.

If u have 11 posts, then i will assume 15 posts. Tho ofc semi-quality posts , eg "I agree, though also..." (and 1 or 2 sentences) is better than "Yes", even questions about missing info when relevant "did they end up returning the money to you?", count.

I don't have the wherewithal to read five pages of posts, but @RainAndSadness more than one person has now told me that they're technically getting access to the Chat feature without being able to use it properly. They can initiate a Chat with someone after just one day and fairly few posts (maybe the former criteria) but are unable to see the other person's reply or continue writing to them.

Maybe something was bungled when the switch was made but this seems to be making for a poor and confusing user experience; falsely gaining the permission earlier than one actually has seems likely to put people off using the feature altogether as they won't know after "unlocking" it when they have actually unlocked it.

Confusingly enough there are 3 different things on here. DMs called "conversations", private chats with another member and a public chat room. This thread is about the last I think.

Public chat and private chat are under the same thing and so both are covered by the restriction described by the original post of this thread.
