I decided to quit nicotine and I'm currently at day 10 of zero nic.

I thought that a (hopefully radical) change in my brain's circuits may help me seeing things from another perspective. Let's see what happens.

It's been pretty tough some days. Now I don't feel the "physical necessity" of it anymore, but cravings are more related with habbits, behaviors and those sort of things.

The emptiness of life was being desguised behind my addiction. That's the hardest part of stop being an addict, I guess.

But hey, still here... hoping that this "rebalancing my brain chemistry" thing have, ultimately, the desired effect.

Well as some wise people say, can't hurt, might help. It certainly seems like at a minimum you'll feel better about smelling fresher and having more money in your pocket!

As a former smoker I'd point out that over 10 years later I love being smoke free. And also, I still feel a craving on occasion. Not very often, and when I do I just go "oh look at that", so it's not really a problem. Just saying don't be alarmed if the cravings don't completely go away!

And good luck with rewiring.

Thanks.

Have anyone here tried this kind of "strategy"?
I mean, not only "quitting, but maybe "adding" some sort of potentially altering brain chemistry experiences? (Doing mushrooms, etc.)

I've heard good things about shrooms from some people, personally I'm just paranoid they'll wind up making me feel even worse

Good job so far with quitting though, that's already a good thing you're doing for yourself

I might consider it, but I have no way to obtain any psychedelics.

Man, I admire what you are trying here. It ain't easy to quit and if you have the strength to that I think you can find the strength to do anything you want to do.

Well. After 10 days 100% free of nicotine I relapsed. I smoked 1 cigarrete on day 11 and 1 yesterday (day 15).

Problem is that addiction is not merely a "physical thing", but fundamentally a "pshychologigal thing", so the feel of emptiness is very hard to beat!

I'm feeling even more depressed now than before.

Those ten days weren't nothing. It's more than I've even attempted with nicotine in a long time.

I did do a month off weed recently and it was manageable...until it wasn't. That I could do it at all makes me want to try again soon though.

I am sorry to hear this but don't beat yourself up. Coming from an addict (me) I think one of the biggest lies is if you mess up and have one you are a failure and you might as well go all in. Just because you had one or two cigarettes does not negate the fact that you were clean all those days. It is still an awesome feat. I vape after having been quit for over a year. I still had cravings that would come out of nowhere. Vaping has way more nicotine than cigarettes and they taste better so I know it is much harder to quit if you can imagine that.
