Hello,

This is my first post so please be kind.

I have a question:
What is the difference between 'living stuff' and 'dead stuff'?

As a follow on from that, what makes 'living stuff' living and 'dead stuff' dead?

I recognise that these are deep questions that potentially border on philosophy more than they do science, and I'm just curious what you guys think.

What would you say the differences between them are? And what kind of "stuff" do you mean?

I'm having difficulties understand what kind of answer that you are looking for.

Anyhow - "dead stuff" is basically us when we have found what we are looking for here

I mean, there's definitely a huge difference between 'living' and 'existing'...

Apologies for not being clear.

I guess what I mean is what is the difference, in a fundamental sense, between stuff that you would describe as being 'not living' and stuff that you would describe as being 'living'?

If you look at dead stuff under a microscope you will probably see disorganisation and a random distribution of matter, whereas living stuff seems to be more organised, for example cells and different structures.
BUT that doesn't really tell us what the difference is between living and dead.

Well from a biological perspective, you could consider something living it it was a cellular organism which had the ability to reproduce.

Yes, I agree completely. Many of us ghet
Yes it is but what I meant when you are stagnant it feels like you died.

Yes I agree completely. And many of us are here, with pulses, are living some zombified incarnation of life. And it will never be fair.

Life is a fascist arbitrary combobulation of spacedust. Death and nonexistence is true liberty and self determination.
