Discussion Psychiatrist not knowing how to do their job, lol

I don't want to change psychiatrists cause he's pretty chill but anyone else's psychiatrist have no idea what they're doing?! I don't really mind cause I know they're not a therapist and just there for meds, but mine does not give a damn as long as when he asks if I have a plan, I say no. Like he knows he's covered if he asks and I say no. He just goes through a check list like "how is your sleep? how is your focus? any suicidal thoughts? plans? how's your bowels? been going out and seeing friends?" lol. Last time I was struggling so I was like "should I attempt?" and he was like "no do not do that" and "make sure you share all of this with your psychologist because that's what they're there for." I mean it's not wrong but you do have to wonder what you're paying for at this point. Half of the time he asks me if I think the medication should be increased or not lmao and one time I asked for a specific sleeping med and he prescribed it, you can't make this up.

None of them know what they are doing.
They just guess. Psych meds are a crapshoot at best. Science does not even know what really causes depression in the brain. The whole chemical imbalance/low serotonin has been debunked. I am actually seeing a new young psychiatrist today for the first time because my old one is retiring. Should be interesting to hear his view.

It sounds like he is trying to make sure you realize the permanence and gravity of the situation to make you question if that is what you actually want.

My most recent one quit on me because I asked about MAID since I was going through an awful mixed episode. She left me without refills.... dumb bitch. I plan to report her. The new one I have only cares that she's off the hook if I CTB. She was so freaked out that I was a nihilist. Horrible accent that almost got me put in the looney bin too.
