Saw a similar thread a while back talking about winning the lottery, so made me think

Yes/No? If there was a medication like Ozempic/Wegovy but for suicidal ideation/planning/attempts, would you take it?
I'm still 50/50 ambivalent about recovery and ctb. I'm engaged with the public mental health team, therapy, medication
Haven't been locked up in a psych ward again (yet lol)

A magic pill, injection, or treatment you take every week that makes everything just feel better, without long term bad side effects.

Yes for me cause I like trying new things I have done most party drugs under the sun when I was in university.
But I'm just young and dumb lol

Keen to see the answers, and read your reasons why/why not

I havent done any drugs . Buy I feel really good when Im on a caffeine high,of course when I drink it more and more the effect gets less potent. The best I feel is when I drink a canned energy drink coffee after 2 days of no caffeine— then i become a completely different person internally, forget that I've ever felt pain and feel like o could do anything.
I kinda keep away from drugs and alcohol for this very reason because if just plain coffee does this then anything stronger would probably have me instantly hooked. I would take the drug because from your description it sounds like it would just take the good of the caffeine high without the jitters.

Yeah I guess the magic medication is different for everyone, and that's the magic version for you

Thank you for sharing

i don't think i'd take it because i doubt anything can fix my lack of interest in participating in society and my frustration with people and the world, which i think is more of a driving force for my suicidal thoughts than any of my mental health diagnoses. maybe that's kind of how other people who have voted no feel? i'm curious

I interpreted it as a sort of "semi-lobotomy" medication. It would silence or at least cloud negative judgement and allow more positive feelings to be at the forefront.
Like My thoughts on the world would be the same but I'd feel like I can handle it ,delude myself that I can change it even; that's what I get from caffeine high — i feel like i can do something if i continue making my comics , my videos and maybe get into volunteer work and id make the world a little bit more into something id like. But then the caffeine crashes and I slowly realize every day is just a cycle.

I imagine this hypothetical medication would be like that caffeine high all the time .

I voted "hell no", because I wouldn't wish to be stuck with my problems and unhappiness without a way out. However, if this magic pill would also fix the issues that cause me to be suicidal (like currently my health problems) then I would of course take it.
Actually weed helped me a lot mentally over the years, but unfortunately I can't use it at the moment due to my physical health issues.

Have you tried edibles or is a bit different

Quetiapine for me helps with sleep hence I don't smoke weed for sleep

This magic pill will fix the issues that cause you to be suicidal, so I guess you're answer is also a yes?

What would the disease be?

Can't speak to your reality, wishing you all the best

But in a fantasy world, if this magical potion took your suicidal ideation/planning/attempts/self harm away (and the root cause) would you take it?

I voted true neutral because it depends on whether this thing will fix my problems? Otherwise that sounds like your stuck in this terrible world with memory erase

Let's say this magical potion does fix your problems (in your mind -- obviously can't make you rich/bring back dead people/make that girl like you)

In my case — existential loneliness
Thought about this for a quile

Lonliness, are you alone, or do you feel lonely

And exsistential, what do you mean by that? Feeling is always there? No feeling alone without god? Just curious, I coudln't quite get what you mean

Hope all is well

No, because I will still be stuck living in a hellish environment. Medication won't be able to fix that.

Depends on if it aided with other symptoms (sensory sensitivities, emotional numbness, dissociation) that I deal with. If it ONLY makes me not want to die it's not really addressing the causes behind my wish to die.

I'm sorry your circumstances are tough. Hope you're able to make it work for you, or move into an environment which is healthier for you

That will unfortunately never happen. My family has sabotaged me in a way where I can never physically leave. I am living in poverty and can't work either, due to a permanent disability.

I'm sorry sounds tough

Where in the world are you?
Are you able to get hot meals meals? Keep warm/dry?

Really feeling for oyu

Poverty is a tough one. I remember growing up and eating rice with butter cause we couldn't afford protien/vegetables at time.. always had food on the table but wasn't always nutritious. Lived in a very cold place and never turned the heater on at home cause of electricity cost, wearing lots of layers. Never got gifts for birthdays or christmas.

Going to the library cause it was wam, had books... first world problems I guess

Things are better now, I'm an adult and I was lucky I could move out at 17 and fend for myself

Ironically now my circumstances are better, my mind is still in that scarcity mindset.. still healing

Oh absolutely. I'd have a much easier time existing in the world. It'd be especially ideal if it fixed my sleeping habits and got rid of the insomnia.

Plus if it fixed the numbness I'd be able to actually enjoy my hobbies and interests again.

Something I have realised (idk might be hard to explain)

Is that I do have happiness in my life, it's not in my awareness/counciousness . but my other parts of my body feel it

I went ice skating last weekend, I moved around, I couldn't feel the experience of happiness but I know my body was experiencing it, outside of my conciousness

I used to do lots of drugs/MDMA/LSD to feel emotions in my conciousness/awarness, and then as adult hood developed I become more just numb and I kinda just stopped

Something i'm working on --- mostly the reason I'm engaging with the public mental health team. I want to be able to experience emotiosn again, I'll udpate you how it goes

It'd be especially ideal if it fixed my sleeping habits and got rid of the insomnia.
medication helped my sleeping and I wish i was on it earleir. I'm on quetiapine, your milage might vary

what worked/didn't work for you?

I don't feel comfortable stating where I am on public threads, but can do so via pm.
I still get meals and am keeping warm/dry. It's mostly the emotional abuse I receive daily that affects me a lot.

It definitely is tough. That sounded like a rough situation to be in. I am sorry you went through that.

I am glad to hear things got better for you. I wish you good luck with your recovery journey.

1) Both.
2) Imagine being a castaway drifting on a small lifeboat. You're dying of thirst. Which is ironic, because you're literally surrounded by water. But you cant drink salt water.
Pretty much the same. Even when I am surrounded by people (at work, during some social stuff or when I just meet my family and such) I am still alone. It's hard to explain, and english is not my first language. So I'll have to use an AI to help me out with a good translation:

"Imagine looking at people through a fogged-up window. And they're looking back at you through the same fogged-up glass.

You can, in a way, hear each other. See each other. Make out each other's gestures and emotions.

And yet, you'll never truly see one another.

You'll never hear a voice as it really sounds. Never notice the smallest details of a face. Never catch every subtle shift in expression or every nuance of a gesture.

And, perhaps most heartbreaking of all, you'll never feel the warmth that passes from one person to another."

Do you think parts of you are seen on this forum that migh not be seen in your day to day life

I feel i am seen in patchworks
No one really sees me but the cumulitive sight from friends/sasu/work does see me

I am the only one who sees myself fully

Probably not- if it's something like Ozempic. I could do with using Ozempic to lose weight but- I don't trust these sorts of things. Partly because they're relatively new but already- Ozempic seems to be causing more serious side effects for some.

They seem to know even less about the brain than other organs. I don't even trust them to subscribe antidepressants. I suppose I feel lucky enough in a way- that my depression isn't so bad that I'm willing to become a human guinea pig.

I simply don't believe there is a 'fix all' drug. They prescribed Fluoxetine (Prozac) to me with the promise it had worked for so many other people and- it did nothing. I suppose I just don't see the brain as similar to other organs- that react in a more predictable way to drugs. It seems more of a hit and miss process which carries risks.

Plus, there are people here and in real life I've known- who ended up suffering more after having tried medication. It would feel too bigger risk for me personally.

Plus- what are we actually talking about? Anti depressants often seem to flatten/ dull all emotions. Making someone more of a zombie- so, life and work becomes easier to cope with. I don't see that as living though. Why make myself even more compliant/ more of a robot? Just to comply with being exploited better?

It still seems more prefarable to leave this world. Rather than to fit better within it.
