If you could press a button that turns your self-hatred into self-love would you do it?
I have an autistic friends that considers himself great in almost all aspects. He is quite happy in life. But he has even worse prospects on the dating market than me.
Sometimes I I wish I could be more like him. But at the same time I am also anxious about the notion of liking myself. I had a guily conscience if I felt self-love. I have the feeling I don't deserve that. But maybe all the abuse I had to endure is responsible for that. But my worst traits also come from abuse.
The best thing for me would be to stop the excessive self-loathing. It is also often projection because usually I loath me the most when I imagine the thoughts of someone else. But most people don't think as much about me as my mind wants me to make believe. Recently, I struggle with extreme self-hatred. And I don't really know an antidote. I always compare myself to the greatest people of all time etc.
I would never treat a friend like that. I think I tend to emotional reasoning. And I have a hard time to distance myself from my feelings towards myself. I would like to be like someone else. But when I learn new people I often find out I would not like to be like them. I don't like myself. But I also would not like to be like most other people. Maybe I envy the most people that never came to existence. Even though the question might be appropriate whether one can be envy of someone that never came into existence. I think my parents never wanted another child. Honestly, thank God. I wish they had abstained from bringing me into this cruel world.
My finale answer. Maybe or Depends. I think I loved myself when I was a child. But afterwards I never had a healthy relationship towards myself. I am not sure how self-love feels. Maybe it would feel good if there were objective good reasons for the self-love. But unconditional? That feels so strange for me. I think unconditional love is one the greatest gifts one can receive. But man I think most relations don't work like that. Even though, most relations I have are asymmetrical in my favor. I would like to have one week self-love for trying it out. But you make yourself so vulnerable because others can make fun of you. Maybe I have a wrong aaproach to life. Lol. But these are my honest thoughts.
