I imagine society as these big factories with assembly lines where each of us are the products being churned out through breeding, but the problem here is there's no quality assurance or check that's used to ensure that each product satisfies a certain list of criteria. We have no quality control at all when it comes to procreation, which means, any family (i.e., assembly line) can produce anything they want and society accepts it. And yet, at the same time, society's standards of performance keeps rising, which means that without quality control, large numbers of defective products, i.e., humans, are left to rot as they fall behind and become marginalized. This is EXACTLY what we're seeing in our society today where millions of men have fallen behind with no prospects of redemption in the face of increasing standards.

This is one of the central tragedies of our times with masses of non-performant people falling through the cracks in a system that doesn't care to improve their condition. If you turned out good that's fantastic, but if you're defective and a failure, then society just turns a blind eye.

Well, what kind of a society is this then? What factory is this where the products being turned out which are the critical building blocks of tomorrow's world aren't ascertained to be reliable, functional, productive, aesthetic, and satisfactory? Why is there no check against breeding (assembly line production) that is essentially dysgenic and degrading to the overall system? What becomes of those people who can't perform, and are now left behind to endure a miserable existence? Why is no one help accountable for producing defective offspring?

This is a really great metaphor. Its really terrible bad parents (aka assembly lines) aren't punished or kept in check for creating more suffering with not raising their children (products) well enough and that we are instead punished for not meeting these standards when it isn't our fault at all but we are still inclined to keep going with this. Also yea its also terrible we can just be seen as tools and products to be used in society to work when we feel pain but sadly much of the world doesn't really care about that :<

Earlier generations simply did not care about genetics and the outcome of their mating in the way that modern generations do today. Today we see loss of pair bonding, total collapse of dating, and gender war between men and women. We are paranoid about each others flaws and ghost one another at the slightest risk of failure. I think this is due to the blackpill mindset of women, which now has rubbed onto men too. No one is willing to settle for less than perfection. Margin of error is small. People are ready to give up on life if they can't attain their perfection; its an all or nothing mindset. However, our prior generations weren't like this. They were willing to put up with being less, being imperfect, and even being a burden, whereas modern people seek to avoid burdens at all cost.

I suppose because if we go too far down that line of thought, we get eugenics. Who gets to decide what is useful or beautiful? What do we do with the 'defective' ones? Kill them? Sterilize them? People will just keep breeding otherwise.

But, what makes a 'rounded' society? Not everyone needs the brains of a rocket scientist. There are still a lot of menial jobs that need doing. If you put very brainy people in menial jobs- they can become very unhappy. So- it would be like working out which role each person needed to fulfil and, breeding them accordingly. What if they don't want to do that role?

It's also assuming that all people with 'defects' are unhappy and useless. If they have been born and enjoy life, is it still ok to kill them? If 'defective' parents enjoy their life and, want to breed- do you stop them? Why? Because their child may become a 'leech on society?' But then- what are we saying? We only want people in this world who will work and pay taxes?

I do agree with it to an extent. It's horrible to find ourselves on such an uneven playing field. Equality sounds nice. But- start to think about it carefully- everyone is now beautiful. Everyone is talented and/ or brainy. So, who now stands out? Won't there still be competition for jobs and partners? Maybe the competition will be fairer but, it will still be there.

To create a perfectly balanced society, surely that means a lot of balancing. Enough jobs, enough food and resources to go around, enough romantic partners. That also surely means everyone playing a specific roll. How free or nice does that sound? How can you ensure no one suffers, no one is left out? Everyone gets picked otherwise?

Let's say there's a gathering of people. You make 10 cups of tea and 7 cups of coffee. What if 9 people want coffee? How can you accurately predict what the world will need without asigning people specific roles and sexual partners even?

I think the problem is free will doesn't always gel so well with the needs of a society. It's hard to keep everyone happy and make life fair for everyone.

Even death itself is tricky. Surely, in a free society, people ought to be able to make the fundamental decision on when they die. Denying them that choice can make them suffer. Yet, allowing it can make their family suffer.

I just think life's too complicated. I can't even really envisage a utopia for humans- given our nature. Even in the best scenario's, I can envisage problems. Maybe that's the pessimist in me. That's why I lean more towards ant-natilism though.
