Ever since I got a car I've fantasized about killing myself by driving down an empty highway in the middle of the night at full speed. The feeling of speeding down the highway at night is so incredibly peaceful and surreal. Every time I drive alone at night I just think about stepping fully on the gas and just driving away. Two things have prevented me from doing it this far. The first is snow, which my car can't handle for some reason. But the main reason is that I'm afraid of surviving, destroying my car, and being institutionalized or becoming a vegetable. Realistically I'll probably use a different method to ctb, but I figured I'd ask. I drive a 2016 Honda Civic.

I've heard a lot of single driver crashes are likely suicides. Very hard to prove.

I know someone who died in a single vehicle crash via hitting the barrier, car rolling over, and getting ejected. I remember crying about it as a child, thinking it was a terrible accident, and then getting older and realizing what likely happened...

Cars these days have been constantly improved to prevent loss of life in case of an accident. I've seen accidents there people walk away with terrible disabilities but survive. I've also seen an older man lose control of his car and in his effort to not hit the car on front of him, drove off the road directly into a very large and sturdy oak tree. The car was an older model so it was sturdier built than cars today so it wasn't crushed but the impact of hitting solid unmovable oak without more modern air bags... Yeah he was alive and semi coherent but died by the time an ambulance from down the road got there...

That being said, please don't try to ctb in traffic. That risks the lives of other people. It is your choice to ctb but don't make that choice for other people. It's not your right.

No way to put odds on it. Too many variables outside your control. I wouldn't take the bet.

There is a high chance you just crash and permanently injure yourself. Do not try this.

Of the ones that are suicides, they are mostly just reckless behavior rather than a specifically planned suicide. I enjoy driving my car and going 150 down the highway around midnight. Many are just inebriated driving.

You crash at a high enough speed with no airbags and and no seatbelts at a deserted time and place, I'd imagine you'd certainly die, especially in and older car

me and my sister saw a guy get into a pretty bad car crash after he crashed into us. his legs were all messed up and bloody, but we were fine because he only hit the side of the car. i can imagine how bad it'd be if a car crash attempt failed. you lose a car and potentially get disabled for life.

As mentioned earlier, too much risk of not dying and ending up disabled or dying in a long painful way. Please, rather don't consider it.

What if it's bad? Some poor firefighter will have to get you out of the car and that's not fair for them to witness how bad it could be.
