I'm 19 years old with nueropathy. It's not diabetes. The only thing the doctor found was vitamin D deficiency and high cholesterol. I'm unsure if this is even the cause of it as most nueropathy come from diabetes and vitamin B deficiency but beyond that they don't really know as it can be idiopathic. "Oh you're so young why would you want to die you have your whole life ahead of you!" I want to scream. Because I don't know what is causing it or if it can even be reversed. I just want to be at peace I don't want to feel this pain anymore. I'm so done with life. I'm so tired and sick of it all. I don't care if I don't make it to 21 I'm hurting mentally and physically. And no one cares because they're not the one experiencing the pain. While I cry and cry and cry over and over again. Words cannot describe how much I hate being alive. I HATE LIVING LET IT END

My mom was diagnosed with neuropathy in her feet when she was 50ish. No prior health issues, no diabetes, nothing. She's been battling it for years now and it's only getting worse. She has charcot foot in both feet and has had multiple surgeries to reposition the bones. Though, she still has to wear special boots that were molded to fit her feet for at least 12 hrs a day so nothing gets misplaced again. I've lived with her throughout all of this and I understand how mentally exhausting it can be having neuropathy. Luckily, you're young and medical advancements are happening every day. Please find a specialist at institutions like Mayo Clinic who can advise you throughout the next steps. Best wishes.

In my feet. Not really I mean I happen to take gabapentin but it's just 300mg 3x a day for anxiety from my psychiatrist. I've honestly started taking more of it a day because I have extra to see if it will help with my nerve pain I know I should take it as precribed but my pain unbearable lately. I'm going to end up switching it out soon anyway since it doesnt help my anxiety. My doctor wants me taking vitamin D supplements and eating a low fat diet for now but hasn't but me on meds. Next time I see her I will beg for medication because we don't even know the cause and I don't want to be in pain trying to figure it out if we even can find the cause or if it can be reversed

Have you been tested for small fiber neuropathy? You might want to get a referral to a neurologist if you haven't already.

No actually, I've only gotten a blood test done. I will look into it though. I do think I need to see a neurologist instead of my primary doctor, she's a good doctor but I worry there's only so much she can do for me vs what a neurologist can help me find out

I also had neuropathy a while ago, it's bad. Luckily for me blood tests could locate why, though the next step would have been a neurologist. If you can do so, please see a neurologist as soon as possible, I hope they can find the cause and that it's curable. Good luck!

Yeah, they can do a biopsy to see if the small fiber nerves are working like they should. The meds they usually prescribe are gabapentin (higher dose than 900mg a day) or lyrica, amitriptyline, Cymbalta. You may also need a referral to pain management.

I'm sorry you're in this shitty situation too.
