Slept late coz I was reading about UTF8 and similar on Wikipedia (2a), and went to check on cat. (2:20-2:45?) Woke (7:30a) with a lot of dream memory, logged with enough time, and got the last few items for camp as I got ready. (7-9a)
Arrive and unpack around 11a, fun fact room doors sometimes opened themselves due to wind (luckily my room, room 2, was closed)
1p or so, have lunch, test box TV with no RCA cable!)
2p piano played sometime before sleep, maybe in front room (update: a large black semi-portable electronic piano was seen, with a stand)
3p to 4p was asleep, dream rendering a bit poorly due to faint irl noise. 4:21p now
4:30-5:40pm or so, went in van for mass. Nice small church, cool temp without AC (at 6pm it was warmer outside.... then outside got slightly chillier at 7pm after sunset). Priest and some others welcomed us, remarking that its a large group. Eventually there was even nice chatting outside, as most of the community gathered for a bit. I learnt that the ppt was only done on School Days.
Drove back and had light chats, van was nice and cool after a bit, so I could wear jumper, like some others. There was talk about charities, homelessness, and similar, I noted down Msc projects, driver mentioned that not much money gets caught up in admin and other uses.
After dinner, tried to charge phone wih power bank/ floodlight, yet didn't charge (around 28%)
Slept on tarp bed, unfortunately the tarp was weak, and could only handle my weight (54kg?) when I have more than 2 points of contact (so getting on and off risks slight damage). The light was kept on a bit for some others to arrive, pillow blocked out almost all light, quite cool. Then several mins later other person arrived at light was turned off.
The window was still open, I put on a jumper and warm trousers, after the temperature fell a bit, hoped it didn't fall too much, eventually closed it slightly but for some reason it didn't end up reaching the threshold for closing it (update: in the morning person said night was nice and cool, I forgot even then whether they slept in a sleeping bag or not)
Woke up and logged dream, phone started with 10% then, and gradually dropped to 6% over several mins, the last 5% went off over 2% a minute as I submitted the dream, I futilely connected it to the charger and no reaction, that 1% took itself out within an hour of not even checking it's time. Oh well, can ask to charge later.
On way to fishing, there was a complex double turn with 5 or 6 road directions total. And maybe then, there was freshly paved gravel road, %jo said "looked like it was redone 2 weeks ago by a bulldozer"
Fishing, from around 11am to 2pm^, temp cool due to no sun, and wind (otherwise wouldn't have worn jumper)
Got hands and feet wet via jetty steps, water started off ok then was sorely cold, dried feet with towel and repeated a few times, before I had a nice walk and talk with %t to the shore (eventually used blue room, nearly leaving bottle coz it fell on an outdoor bench), saw marbly reddish rock, used grey ramp, and finally spotted and returned to %j
6 squid were caught by our group (eventually I helped carry the repurposed laundry liquid bucket holding it), %d caught 3 somehow. I didn't try for long coz I wanted to try the water, also I moved the lure too high (to avoid pulling more seaweed)
I watched a (probably arabic?) family catch a squid live, and it squirted dark ink onto the woman's brown coat.^
Got back and squid was prepared, since I had time and not much to do, napped, then experimented with different clothing combos in my room [23.5C or so estimated] (jumper and warm trousers were temporarily ok if lying down, t shirt and shorts were cool, even with light blanket... long sleeve swimsuit and swim trunks were reworn, a little cool indoors, tho nice outdoors (slightly warmer and windier) (ISPOILER'd coz it may be boring)
(3 or 4pm?) Had nice squid marinara with long flat pasta, another brief mention about mortal sin, someone joked that fake money to charity was one (it wasn't a grave sin like unaliving innocents). After some clapping practice, I managed to hand-kill a few flies (surprising some, and %b said %t has competition), washed hands and returned for a bit more chat
Napped in room, walked to the backyard outside (and was cool enough for warm clothes), discovered some painted metal piece and got 1 of 2 nails out of it via the concrete. Even got phone charged upon request in %d's car.
Played Spot It with %br and %r, in front yard on tables, a few rounds and I was sometimes faster than expected, %t got and lost some too, if only he had his glasses tho.
Fireplace rosary and quiz (around sunset)^
I placed my chair near the side yard coz I liked the cool air, eventually as temp dropped, I moved it inward. There were several rounds of trivia covering General Knowledge, Dads, Lads, and Sport, even some guessing game.
My bottle used by %d and I to put out overflowing embers, refilled it via kitchen tap
For the spelling section, when I answered, I closed my eyes and imagined I was typing the word in my chat on the glowing keyboard of my new (2024) laptop. ^
Sometime earlier, I got phone back from car, it wirelessly charged (99%)
Wrote roughly as dinner was prepared. (Maybe 9pm or earlier, idk)
There were 1-4 chat(s) in the (warmer than I liked, tho cooling) kitchen* at once, and we ate long bun with sausage. I also got 2 sausage slices from a fried rice dish, and some thin mozzarella cheese slice, and ate.
Varying chats about people's experiences, from possums to van driving in winter (and how ppl panicked at an arachnid), to talking about spare food (I later
tell %j, roughly as he said gn, about cooking on site tho the surprise quantity of Vietnamese Rolls, and a few ppl leaving early, changed things up). Window closed at a nice, cool temp.
*due to outdoor temp falling, and risk of rain, we ate there, vs the firepit. I checked it an hour later and it was almost out, didn't dump a noticeable ember/fragment.
Logged, now in bunk bed, at 11:27pm (Sun)
19-20C? Temp nice now (maybe was 23C before)
Coz phone was charged, browsed the forum a bit, read about mental healthcare experiences, then slept from midnight to 6am (due to accidental alarm), and slept in to 7am.
Helped group pack up, temp varying tho usually nice, I even got to kill flies with spray, as I brought air mattresses for the others to pack away (I put some boxes away, and some mattresses were there too).
Had 2 naans with cheese for breakfast. Me and %br prepared buns, cutting 12 of 25 (the 26th was already cut). We showed our room temps to each other, upstairs room temp was 21C, and my room was 19C (both get afternoon sun).
Bush walk, spotting and tasting edible plants (salt bush, red berry with 4 segments, another plant I don't recall), saw a few wombat burrows, and a distant kangaroo that ran off (11a-1p?). Heard that some limestone was 55 million years old, that wombat borrows have a small risk of collapse, and what several plants were, one was even medicinal, but no one knew the exact effects. Even collected some plastic items (white curved and broken Clipsal pipe, and some red plastic from maybe a bike light), %jo mentioned being careful about collecting habits. We went back to trail entry, said farewell, and left.
I had a nice drive back (temp dropped nicely from high to cool), listened to Christian music and adjusted AC vent a few times. Entered the small, lockable room for a bit, before the larger one. Believe it or not, part of my wash was with comfy swimsuit, coz I only wet my hands and feet there. Some editing this Monday, maybe 3:31-3:45pm and more. (Also it is dst since Sunday)
