This is like the 10,000,000th example of me seeing something like this/experiencing it firsthand but this one is making me mad enough to post about.

I was just on Instagram and came across a post updating some people that the girl who went missing in their community was found dead and had tragically took her own life.

I don't even know why Instagram pushes random town's and school's Instagram accounts so much in the algorithm but it had a lot of interactions so I went to check if the comments were being respectful and of course the first thing I see is someone's desperate attempt at being funny—literally had nothing to say about someone taking their own life besides a shocked reaction GIF.

Like holy fuck. These people have no limits to their attention seeking. No limits to their insensitivity. Absolutely ZERO remorse for their actions.

They have NO CONCEPT of "time and place." It doesn't occur to these people that if a post doesn't apply to them and they don't have anything beneficial to comment, THEY CAN JUST SCROLL. Nope. They see every fucking situation as an opportunity to draw attention to themselves.

And yes, it is that serious. Can you imagine killing yourself after most likely years of enduring constant pain that the world continuously ignores and then someone's reaction to finding out you died is "OMG WHAT REACTION IMAGE CAN I PUT IN THE COMMENTS SO PEOPLE GIVE ME LIKES????!?!?!?!?!"

I don't even want to think of the possibility that the commenter knew the girl who killed herself. It's horrible as it is assuming the commenter is a stranger like me who just happened to get this random town's post on their feed, but the fact I can't 100% tell REALLY GOES TO SHOW just how awful and detached some people have become.

I also know DAMN WELL that people I know will be reacting this way when I eventually kill myself. "Oh my, I used to be his friend. I don't even know what to do I'm so heartbroken" is going to be said by at least 5 of my ex-friends who dropped me over my mental health and not being happy enough for them.

Literally one of the main reasons I'm pro-choice when it comes to suicide is because of these cold, sick, absolutely self-centered people. The rest of us shouldn't be forced to live with them.

I hate these people. I genuinely do. BECAUSE THEY'RE THE ONES WHO GET TO LIVE HAPPY, FULFILLING LIVES. And even when you kill yourself BECAUSE OF THEM, they'll find a way to make a mockery of you.

Real, literally NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOU. People only care about themselves. This is why I'd never rope, I'd hate to see some retards who bullied me or ignored me my entire life to post some gif or spam emojis on a post about my passing. I hate normies so fucking much, they think everything is a joke. This is why I don't view most people as humans, I view them as subhumans or animals, because that way I don't expect them to have any humanity inside of them. It's better to have no expectation than to have expectations and be disappointed.

I hate social media, and the fact that it is necessary for communicating with so many people. Instagram especially is bottom of the barrel tier I feel like. I got recommended a post that was explicitly about CSA, by a random stranger who works with CSA victim investigations, and the post was so triggering for me. I seriously don't know why that person thought it was appropriate to post on social media, except to get pats on the back and praise that they are working in a role that regularly causes further trauma to children btw.

Whenever I made a comment that this sort of content objectively is triggering for some people and I wish there was a way to hide these types of posts (I have tried so many things, but unfortunately I still get recommended this garbage) people jumped on me and said things like "you need to face your fears, grow up", "this type of comment is insulting to REAL victims" and that I'm stupid and it's my fault because I dared to ask the simple question of how to stop getting this awful shit recommended on my page.

Eventually, someone I knew shared the post and made it show up in the algorithm more. And I got dogpiled on more and more for my comment, simply asking how to stop seeing it!! In the end, I deleted my comment, but it further made me realise just how unempathetic and cruel people are. From the person who posted the video in the first place, to all the other people commenting, it was blatantly obvious that these people don't seem to care about sexual abuse and the devastating impact it has on a person years down the line.
