I just got prescribed lexapro for depression today. I'm a little hesitant because I have tried another SSRI (prozac) in the past and it didn't improve my mood and gave me side effects (restlessness, trouble sleeping, light sensitivity, etc.), but I guess we'll see... wish me luck :,)
Anyone else have experience with both of these? How do they compare? I've heard lexapro is less likely to cause side effects but still, even besides those the first SSRI didn't help. What are the chances of something else in the same class working?

I've tried Prozac before it didn't help me at all. Made my sleep even worse than it already was. It also made me numb emotionally. However, for Lexapro I'm not entirely sure. It's been 2 weeks since I started on it and I'm still taking it till now, but it didn't change anything. I'm taking Melatonin gummies so that helps counter the effects with not being able to sleep. SSRI's suck a lot in my opinion. If you try more than 4 antidepressants and they all don't help then it's probably time to ask for Esketamine. That works 100% better than all antidepressants and it works pretty fast in about an hour.

edit: and oh yeh a lot of people are different I've heard lexapro changed people's lives idk how but it helped them it might not work on u but who knows give it time good luck

Lexapro did fuck all for me. Definitely a YMMV thing.

Honestly, I don't think there's a surefire way to know how you'll react to a medication, so I'd just ride it out for the recommended minimum duration and see how it goes.
