this is a little embarrassing, but how can I get over the fear of cutting myself? I've been clean for a couple years because I was publicly humiliated by a classmate and felt such deep embarrassment that I didn't want to do it ever again.

Throughout the time of not self harming, I found out how my body has somehow completely rejected the idea of cutting. Seeing people cut themselves or imagining myself doing it immediately releases that gross feeling of nausea and pure disgust. I genuinely physically recoil at it.

I've been trying to get back into it for months, but I just can't get myself to do it anymore, and I feel stupid for that. I'm not even sure if I should see my body protecting me THIS much as a good thing, or if it's just me being a coward who can't pull through with it, and uses the repulsion as an excuse not to do it.

I'm not sure if I should drop it or try a few more times and get over the fear. Any advice that might help me get over it?

I'm really sorry about your experience that you've had to go through such a bad time. We are all with you.
Besides, cutting is a really bad method for ctb, there could be better methods out there that you may research on SaSu.
If you want help with therapy and recovery, there is a method called Havening, you can search Paul McKenna Havening on YouTube. It has known to help with PTSD and all sorts of trauma, even war veterans benefitted from it.
If you can find a good NLP practitioner, they may help you with Pattern interrupt. I forgot the exact name of that method.

Yeah, thats true. I wouldn't even consider cutting as a choice when ctb … though, if I'm cowardly enough to not even be able to cut, I definitely won't be able to end it all any time soon either. I'm not even sure if I want to do that to myself in the first place. I'll try to stay optimistic and believe that there are nice things awaiting me in the future. After all, the last thing I want right now is to leave my cats, who are basically my lifeline.

Haha, this makes me feel bad cause I'm basically just wasting you guys' time. I'm really, truly sorry for that. It's late at night over here and my mind tends to drift off to negative thoughts during these hours.

Thanks a lot for the support nonetheless!!

You aren't wasting anyone's time. This forum is full of loving caring people who genuinely listen and care.. every time I return to the forum, I feel loved and cared for and interestingly that stops me from being suicidal.. Isn't that ironical 😂
