I loved this glass to death. if you're a casual or non-drinker you may not understand, but as a heavy drinker for over a decade, this is devastating. for over 4 years I've had this beautiful jim beam glass. I don't drink jim beam, but it was perfect for vodka soda water. I loved it. it was perfect for drinking. it held up through so many spills and drops. and one accidental drop in the sink, it shattered. I didn't care about the glass cutting my skin. I loved this glass so much. I still love it. I can't believe it's gone. it was hard to explain to my roommates why I was crying and I'm hoping someone here can understand. that glass was everything to me. I can't stop crying. I can't stop feeling so bad. it's like I lost a chunk of myself. I'm sorry.

I'm sorry you're going through this. 🫂

Hopefully, someday you'll find another glass that you can grow just as fond of and create new memories with. But of course, it will never replace this one.

I can understand.I had a beautiful porcelain tea cup that I used to have tea and coffee in. I used it for years. Someone else at home broke it when they were cleaning it. They soaped it up and it slipped out of their grasp in the sink and broke. Both the cup and I were shattered.

There's a lot of memories and sentiments associated with an object like this.I get you.

Did you look online to find a duplicate?

I am so sorry about your glass. It reminds me of that guy with the wire spool, which ran out... it carried so many memories and stories. But where the end of that could be seen coming, this is quite a sudden, cutting, and jarring loss. I know you must be heartbroken.

However, if you are able to find a duplicate, I know it's no replacement – but maybe a "legacy" of the first glass. Can you frame it that way maybe?

it's so strange that I'm still mourning an inanimate object as much as a pet, but there were just so many memories with that glass and it became the ONLY glass I would use! I'm sorry about your porcelain tea cup. it sounds lovely.

it was a pretty old glass that I stumbled upon at a secondhand store as few years ago. I doubt I would find another like it. even if I did, there were certain features about it that I was quite fond of, like chips in the glass and lettering and design.

Exactly. It's the memories associated with it. It becomes a companion. I'm sorry. I know your loss is heavy. Some Other people will scoff or simply not understand.

I'm almost positive you would. Especially on eBay. I've done this myself for a few things over the years. I was able to find cups and even a very particular checkbook holder from the 80s. The prices can sometimes be high. But for me, it's better to have another treasured item replacement than not having it at all.
